Man in Bengaluru books auto, driver turns out to be fintech firm’s Chief Growth Officer

Posts about ‘Bengaluru’s highlight moment’ on social media capture various incidents from the city that grab attention and leave people surprised. From a single room on rent for ₹12,000 to a Rapid driver arriving in a Royal Enfield to pick up a passenger to an individual receiving investment advice on a dating profile, these quirky moments from India’s Silicon Valley make for fun social media posts. User X Manasvi Saxena shared one such incident. He wrote that he was picked up by the chief development officer of a fintech company when he booked an Uber Auto.

Saxena, co-founder of mobile payment app MoMoney, shared the post on X. “My Uber car driver tonight was Chief Growth Officer at Juspay, doing user research for Namma Yatri,” Saxena wrote. In the next line, he also expressed his amazement and added, “If this is not @peakbengaluru, then what is!”

While responding to a comment inquiring about his conversation with the chief development officer, Sexena added: “It wasn’t any specific question but the flow of the whole conversation. It didn’t feel like an interview with the user, more like a casual chat, and yet he asked all the right questions. I became suspicious only because the conversation was well articulated, otherwise you couldn’t tell.”

How did X users react to this ‘Bengaluru pinnacle moment’?

“Please tell me you have their number,” user X posted. “Did he have a driver’s license?” asked another. “Did he introduce himself before the ride like Uber India’s president did by targeting influencers who can shout at their followers? It defeats the purpose of user research when you introduce yourself at the beginning and probably only get biased feedback,” added a third. To which Saxena wrote, “No, he didn’t mention anything about himself during the entire ride. Only at the end did he tell me. And that’s probably because I mentioned that my co-founder used to work at JUSPAY.”

Shan MS is Chief Growth Officer at Juspay. According to his LinkedIn bio, he started working for a fintech company in 2021. He also completed his MBA degree from IIM Bangalore.
