Man pretending to be mannequin goes on a shopping spree after mall closes

A 22-year-old man was arrested after he pretended to be a mannequin in a shop window before robbing a shopping center after it closed. According to reports, the savvy thief stood motionless in the window to avoid being caught by the cameras.

Polish police said that neither employees nor customers saw anything unusual when the store closed. “A 22-year-old man with a bag in his hand froze motionless, pretending to be a doll in front of the window. In this way, he wanted to avoid being exposed by the cameras,” the Warsaw police said in a statement. according to The Independent.

After the mall closed, a man stole items from the jewelry stand. He also went to a restaurant to eat. After the meal, he ducked under the partially open shutters of another shop to exchange his clothes for new ones. Later he came back for some more food. But security guards soon noticed him and alerted the police.

The same man was also charged with shoplifting from another mall, where authorities say he tried to steal merchandise from merchants after closing time and stole cash from the registers. For his crimes, the 22-year-old can receive up to 10 years in prison, writes the New York Post.
