Screen Rant: Mason, when we meet your character Jack C., he has a close relationship with Riley but abandons it in favor of Erica. What is the reason Erica forces a famous man like Jack to leave his famous girlfriend for a lesser-known girl?

Mason Versaw: From the way she approached him, she was bold. A little confidence and a little kindness. It seems like she’s trying to understand what he’s saying and what he has to offer here, and for Riley it’s a bit complicated since she’s usually the star of the show. But with Erica, with Jack C., I think for him, there was something about her that surprised him, and something that shocked him that he hadn’t noticed before, so he he was shocked.

The series features many high school archetypes often portrayed in the media. Aparna, how did you choose Riley as a “bad girl”?

Aparna Brielle: First of all, we were lucky enough to have so many great references growing up with this character. We have Mean Girls, we have a lot of different movies, but I think the most important thing for me in playing this role is realizing that at that age, nobody really has that kind of confidence. . I mean, they probably will, but Riley definitely won’t, and I really want to understand her insecurities, because there’s a reason she craves the TV series she’s starring in. family. She plays these political games for a reason. She is very insecure. I don’t think she really has faith in her true friendship. I think Jake C. is probably the only person she feels really connected to. To approach the character, I don’t just focus on archetypes and stereotypes, which is also interesting, I start with that river of emotions and really rely on the feeling at the time, not being able to control everything. in his life.

I love how your character is dynamic in this toxic relationship. How do you feel working together?

Aparna Brielle: Delicious.

Mason Fanso: Delicious. Very fun every time. I almost wish we had more moments together because, you know, it’s just a ball, full of energy, it’s a very specific dynamic that I think most people pick up on. aware and have spent in high school or out there. So it was a crazy relationship, because yes, their relationship was really a whirlwind. I mean it’s serious to witness the chaotic energy of power and control that Miss Riley has over Jack C. and then Jack C. determined to say the opposite that she doesn’t but she does. passed him but it was funny.

Aparna Brielle: We had a lot of fun, and I know it sounds bad because we’re in a toxic relationship, but part of what we’re doing is we’re pretending, we I’m acting, when you’re working with someone who’s very open and dedicated. I couldn’t believe I had never met or known Mason before because I could easily play with him. We had a lot of great, funny scenes—some of which weren’t even on the show—and we really had to show all their vibrancy and then just relax and have fun.

It also helps us to be really good friends on set, so we really trust each other and can relax and we can be as crazy as we want to be. You know, it’s also a show and it’s not entirely realistic either, so even though it’s rooted in real relationships we’ve all witnessed or been a part of , but we have to really take it to the next level. There are lots of little elements, lots of fun little objects that we can play with.
