Her desire to become a mother and wife to her placed her in the same room with Rulón, who offered her marriage.
After Rulon’s death, she fell in love with LeRoy Jeffs, one of Warren Jeffs’ brothers and Rulon’s sons. Alicia claimed that he was her favorite among her many wives. They ended up having two children from a happy marriage before LeRoy was excommunicated from the FLDS church.

His daughter RuLeecia recalled: “Well, I remember being at the shelter. I remember one time my doll fell off… and that woman, she had a long tail, a long black tail. She came in and told us that she would beat us if we didn’t go to bed and go to bed. I remember that.”
He added: “And I have another memory. We would wake up early. [My sister] me too and it was like 5 o’clock and we went to the bathroom and you opened the big door. It was one of those big metal doors, we went into the bathroom and waited for each other and she would hold the door for me when I came back. And she slammed the door on my foot… on my big toe and I had to go get stitches.”
Their children, along with other children, spent time in foster care. Her eldest daughter, RuLeecia, explained: “I remember [my biological mother] I walked in and I just said ‘Damn’. They told me that she was my mom, and I said ‘No way’ because I always thought she was the other one… Ester, that’s her name… she’s my mom. That’s what they told me. But yeah, I remember. She came over and hugged me, and I thought, ‘Who is this woman?’
When reunited with her mother, RuLeecia spoke of her experience: “My mother picked me up and threw me in the air…and I was so happy. I was so happy to finally get out of there.”

RuLeecia was 4 years old when the attack on the FLDS church occurred. She was in the living room the day of the raid. She said salt Lake Grandstand, “The day of the raid, I remember being in the living room and people were knocking on our door and suddenly someone came and picked me up, just this man in black, he took me to the bus and that’s all I really remember.” .
He further explained, “A memory, I was with my siblings, my brother and my sister. They were my real cousins, but they told me they were my brother and sister. And we look outside. They told us that I think something bad is going to happen.”
She added: “We were just afraid of those people, so we just looked out. We only saw something in the distance, and it was just a helicopter. It’s nothing, but we were very afraid of everything.”
