Michelle Odinet’s career
In June 1991, Michelle began her career working in the New Orleans District Attorney’s office. She was a part-time prosecutor there. Odinet began working as an assistant district attorney full-time in November 1993. She began as a part-time employee of the indigent defense program in 1996. Mike Harson, District 15 District Attorney, appointed Odinet served as assistant district attorney following Robin Rhodes’ departure in December 1996. Michelle has experience managing insurance cases in the private practice.
Due to many family concerns, she took a break from work every year. She continued to work at the Lafayette Parish Public Defender’s Office, Louisiana in 2019. In 2020, Odinet was elected as a Lafayette City Court Judge. She replaced Francie Boulian by switching to the Republican Party. Of the 43% of votes cast by Jules Edwards III, who was not partisan, Odinet got 56%.
