Monster Hunter World: Iceborne — Weapons and armor guide

Monster Hunter has always been about armor and gear. The main reason for multiple monster hunts is to carve parts for new armor and weapons. Quality gear is what keeps you alive when fighting powerful monsters. IN Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, all the monsters are quite powerful due to the difficulty of Master Rank. Don’t worry. This means that the gear you can forge is also scarier.

Our Monster Hunter World: Iceborne The Weapons and Armor Guide offers tips and tricks to get the most out of your gear and really improve your hunting skills.

Armor

The best armor sets.

You know the procedure. As you play quests and kill monsters, more options will open up in Smithy. During the great time we spent with iceborne, we have unlocked more than 100 armor sets. That number is terrifying to say the least. you should probably play iceborne for 1000 hours to have enough monster parts to craft each piece of armor. Fortunately, the goal is not to craft every piece of armor, just the ones you need.

Here are the four best armor sets. iceborne.

kadachi viper +

Viper-Kadachi-+

  • Total Defense: 660
  • Total fire protection: 5
  • Total Water Defense: 15
  • Total defense against Grom: -15
  • Total Ice Defense: -10
  • Dragon Total Defense: 5

Each piece of the Viper Tobi-Kadachi armor has 132 defense, along with decent water resistance and light dragon and fire resistance. The big advantage of the Viper Kadachi + armor is that it offers the Evade Extend ability, which significantly increases the turning distance. In addition to this, you will also get the Evade Window ability, which increases invulnerability when dodging. Constitution reduces stamina loss and Quick Sheath allows you to draw and stow weapons a bit faster. It also increases the ability to paralyze and attack with poison.

Velkhana +

Velkhana-+

  • Total Defense: 770
  • Total Fire Defense: -15
  • Total Water Defense: 10
  • Total Lightning Defense: -5
  • Total Ice Defense: 20
  • Dragon Total Defense: -5

The Velkhana set is unsurprisingly one of the best armor sets out there. iceborne. It also happens to look better. Velkhan’s armor pieces have 154 defense and provide high resistance to ice and water attacks. The abilities provided by the Velkhana armor, especially set bonuses, make it an incredibly great choice. Granted, you have to wait quite a while to unlock it, but it’s worth the wait.

With a full kit, you will deal more elemental damage, regardless of element, on critical hits. Attack power increases when your weapon is scabbarded and then decreases as you use it. In addition to the set bonuses, you will get Divine Blessing (has the ability to reduce damage), Enhanced Defense, Flinch Free (reduces knockdowns and trips), Critical Draw (100 percent critical strike chance when drawing a weapon), Quick Sheath , and Coalescence (increases attacks after removing status effects).

Fulgur Anjanath +

  • Total Defense: 730
  • Total defense against fire: -5
  • Total Water Defense: -5
  • Total Lightning Defense: 10
  • Total Ice Defense: -15
  • Dragon Total Defense: 0

Fulgur Anjanath is one of the strongest T-Rexes, so it’s no surprise that his armor set is one of the toughest in the world. iceborne. A complete set will increase your stamina, which is especially useful in the cold Hoarfrost Reach. Lightning elemental damage has been increased. If you use thunder based weapons, this set will help you against Nargacuga, Tigrex, Viper Tobi-Kadachi and other monsters that are weak to thunder. The best ability it offers is Weakness Exploit. Hitting weak spots will have a 30 percent affinity boost that becomes 50 percent when hitting wounded areas. This armor also has the benefit of increasing item duration by 50 percent, an extremely useful ability when using consumables like Armor Skins, Adamant Seeds, and Might Seeds.

As a bonus, you’ll gain a defense boost, stun resistance, knockback resistance, and improved evasion when hit by status effects.

nargacuga +

  • Total Defense: 700
  • Total Fire Defense: -10
  • Total Water Defense: 10
  • Total defense against Grom: -15
  • Total Ice Defense: 0
  • Dragon Total Defense: 0

The Nargacuga set is great against water and has some really cool abilities. With the full set, you’ll gain Nargacuga Essence, a useful ability that keeps your weapons sharp for much longer. For light weapon users, the Stamina Surge ability is a huge advantage, as it significantly increases stamina recovery. The Evade Window ability was mentioned earlier, but Nargacugina is unmatched at level five. You don’t have to worry about taking damage from dodging.

Focus on resistors

While we highly recommend the four sets above, when you’re fighting a monster, you might want to focus on resistances. Does Glavenus hit you with fire and explosion damage? Craft the Uragaan set to increase your fire resistance. Do you have problems against Barioth? Go back and farm Banbaro materials to create a set that is more resistant to ice.

Look for piles of bones and dig for minerals.

Many non-monster based weapon and armor sets require bone and ore to craft. If you see a bunch of bones, look it up. Pass some ore? Get your pickaxe out and get to work. While monster sets tend to offer more abilities, you can still forge a great set out of ore and bone alone. The advantage is that you don’t have to hunt monsters over and over again to complete an armor.

armored spheres

Armor Orbs allow you to improve the overall defense of each piece of armor. Complete bounties and quests to earn Armor Spheres. Master Rank brings Heavy Armor Spheres into the circle. Keep in mind that you won’t get any extras if you don’t complete the bonuses all the time. With that in mind, we don’t recommend upgrading armor pieces that you don’t intend to wear for more than a few missions. You’ll want to save them to fully update the sets you use the most

decorations

The armor pieces come with innate abilities, but don’t forget to fit them with gems. Each piece of armor and weapon can contain up to three gems of three different sizes. The bigger the gem, the more powerful the ability. Decorations are a great way to balance weaknesses. If you choose armor that is particularly weak against an element, you can level up the scales by adding gems.

You will earn gems with each mission you complete. iceborne, but you can also merge new ones into Elder Melder. Certain “+” cloaks like the Ghillie Mantle+ can also be equipped with gems, so remember to access them from the Specialized Tools menu.

While we don’t recommend choosing gear based on number of slots (or slot size), it’s foolish to head into Hoarfrost Reach without adding abilities to your gear with trinkets.

Weapon

When it comes to Master Rank weapons, it’s harder to give a definitive list of what’s best. Each of the 14 weapons of the World go back iceborne with Master Rank versions. While their upgrade paths are tied to low/high rank, you don’t need to fully upgrade a weapon to unlock the master rank versions. Instead, you can forge the starting version of the Master Rank weapon in the appropriate tree if you have enough zennies and the correct parts.

Of iceborne it’s an expansion, you probably already have a favorite weapon or two World. Use what is most comfortable for you iceborne.

From there, you have to decide which weapon tree to follow. Your main concern should be the overall damage of the attack. Note that these vary greatly between weapons. The 400 attack with Dual Blades is great, but very weak with Great Sword (it’s good above 1000).

But after attack damage, you want to look at three other key attributes: sharpness, affinity, and element.

Sharpness

The sharpness meter is confusing because it has six different colors, from white (sharpest) to red (dull). Once you sharpen your weapon, it will become sharper, but as you use it, it naturally becomes less effective. When deciding between two weapons of the same class that have similar values, look at sharpness. If you see a lot of white, blue, and green, your weapon will be effective longer between sharpening uses. If a significant portion of the meter is occupied by red, orange, and yellow (especially red), the blade will lose its effective sharpness more quickly.

Affinity

Don’t worry too much about these statistics. Tons of weapons have zero percent affinity, even master rank weapons. But if you’re comparing similar weapons and one has 20 percent affinity while the other has none, remember that affinity applies to critical hits. An affinity of 20 percent is significant. This means that one in five hits, on average, will result in more damage. Critical hits are also more likely to stagger monsters. If you don’t have affinity, you can increase it by using armor and adornment skills.

Element

This one is important. Elemental damage can drastically change the course of a fight. Each monster is critically weak to at least one element and somewhat weak to more than one. Almost all weapons have elemental damage: fire, water, ice, thunder, dragon, paralysis, poison, explosion, sleep, etc.

how are you progressing iceborne, you’ll want to start forging weapons that exploit weaknesses. You can look at the Hunter’s Notes to see the weaknesses of the monsters you researched.

Shotguns are an exception, as they have a deflection stat, rather than an item, that measures how far the bullets move away from the crosshairs in flight.
