A video showing the beautiful bond between a baby and a dog has been shared on social media. The clip shows the pooch doing his best to ensure the crawling toddler doesn’t go down the stairs.

The video was shared on Reddit with the caption: “Good dog watching over baby.” The clip opens to show a baby crawling on the floor. After a while, the little one tries to get out through the door in front of which there are stairs. But the dog makes sure the baby doesn’t go out the door. To stop the kid, the dog finally lays down in front of the door and blocks it completely.

The video was shared a few months ago. So far, he has collected almost 52,000 upvotes. The stock also garnered tons of comments from people. While some expressed their love for the dog, others shared stories about their pooches.

“I tried to pick her up and everything. He puts his little paw on the small of her back. Tried to talk to her and that’s what it looked like. Good puppy,” a Reddit user wrote. “My parents had a collie when I was born. We lived in the country, so the traffic was not always the safest speed. We had a fence, and my mom would garden in front and let me crawl around. When I went to the door, the dog would lie down on it. They said he watched me like a hawk. It was an interesting story of how they got him but, instinct aside, his tough early life made him gentle and protective,” shared another.
“I like how the dog casually went to lie down by the door,” chimed in a third. “We lived in the countryside when I was a child. It was the 70s and I could play in the yard by myself. (wild time, I know) We had a dog that was with me the whole time I was in the yard. If I moved towards something dangerous, he would push me, sit on top of me and start barking.
