In the final season of The Flash, American actress Nicole Maines reprises her role as Supergirl Nia Nal aka Dreamer. The first reveal was revealed by TVLine and fans are thrilled that she’s back. The phenomenal 25-year-old actress has so far starred in Royal Pains, Good Trouble, Darby and the Dead and several other TV series and movies. Nicole Maines rose to fame in the fourth, fifth, and sixth seasons of the CW superhero series Supergirl, as Nia Nal. She was the first person to play a transgender superhero on television. Nicole Maines has an identical twin brother, Jonas Maines.
Maines and her identical twins Jonas were adopted by Kelly and Wayne Maines in 1997. Kelly’s second cousin is the biological mother of one of the twins. In a recent interview, host and executive producer Eric Wallace talked about his latest addition to The Flash series:
“As Supergirl fans, all of us here at The Flash are super excited to have Nicole join Team Flash for a one-off adventure as we wrap up our final season.”
He continued:
“Nicole Maines is an amazingly talented actress and I’m so happy she agreed to be in a very special part of Season 9, where I had to get through one of my ‘Arrowverse Bucket List’ teams: yes Two amazing reporters — Iris West-Allen (Candice Patton) and Nia Nal — are investigating a very bizarre and terrifying mystery of their own.”
Nicole Maines was born male, although she did show evidence of sex change at a young age. She chooses to play with toys that are feminine and based on female characters from cartoons and movies. She was only three years old when she found out she wasn’t a boy, and by the age of four, she was openly talking about her sexuality to her adoptive parents.
She eventually changed her name to Nicole (Nikki) after her character Nicole Bristow, one of Zoey’s assistants on the Nickelodeon sitcom Zoey 101. She underwent gender confirmation surgery in Philadelphia, a month later. when he graduated from high school in 2015.

Nicole Maines has written various comic books, including her own Supergirl character, Nia Nal/Dreamer, and also co-wrote the story for Dreamer’s first installment in the Superman: Son of Kal-El comics.
