Schools will remain closed for Dussehra, Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti
School holidays in October 2023: School holidays show considerable variation depending on the country, region and specific educational institution. October school holidays are usually aligned with the academic calendar and can span different intervals throughout the year.
With Dusshera starting this week, TSBIE has directed all principals/management to close junior colleges from October 19 to 25, 2023 (both days inclusive). Colleges are expected to remain closed due to Dusshera celebrations.
Recently, the State Education Department issued a notification stating that all government and private schools and colleges in Sikkim will remain closed till October 15, 2023. The decision has been taken keeping in mind the health of the students as the state is witnessing cold and harsh weather.
With Durga Puja, Maha Panchami and Bijaya Dashami around the corner, students are eagerly anticipating the festive celebrations and school holidays. It must be noted that the dates and duration of holidays may vary from country to country.

Telangana colleges remain closed till October 25
TSBIE has directed all principals/management to close elementary schools from October 19 to 25, 2023 (both days inclusive). Colleges are expected to remain closed due to Dusshera celebrations. According to the official notification, all the District Secondary Education Officers are requested to give wide publicity in their jurisdiction to make sure that all the Junior College management should follow the same schedule.

Schools and colleges in Sikkim will remain closed till October 15
The state education department has issued a notification stating that all government and private schools and colleges in Sikkim will remain closed till October 15, 2023. The decision has been taken keeping in mind the health of the students as the state is witnessing cold and harsh weather. Earlier, the Education Department had ordered the closure of schools and colleges till October 8, 2023. However, the date has now been postponed due to the current weather conditions.
Dussehra holidays in October 2023
Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, culminates the nine-day Navratri festival. In 2023, India will celebrate Dussehra on October 24 (Tuesday). Vijayadashami or Dussehra is a public holiday and schools and businesses are closed.
