The General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN) was seized after the police used an electrical impulse gun. Its use resulted in a person suffering serious burns during a judicial seizure near Caen last Friday.

Investigation for “unintentional injuries”
“It seems that, with the intention of preventing a deadly act, the actions of the police could have contributed, unfortunately, to the result of the drama that followed. Namely, the use of a Taser in an atmosphere saturated with hydrocarbons could have caused a fire,” according to the prosecutor’s statement.

“At this stage, it is not prepared that a criminal offense has been committed and an administrative investigation will have to be launched,” continued the press release, Caen prosecutor Amélie Cladière.
