Broadcast journalist Patsy Kensit knew her relationship with real estate mogul Patrick Cassidy was doomed, even though they still have “a lot of love for each other,” sources said last night.
The EastEnders star, 55, has called off her fifth marriage after she called off her lightning engagement to millionaire Patric, 56, and decided to focus on work.

Self-confessed “hopeless romantic” Patsy announced they were getting married ten months ago after he popped the question a few weeks after they started dating.
However, we reported last month that she was left “visibly upset” at a charity event when Patric snatched a diamond ring from her hand during a furious fight.
Patsy’s spokesperson told The Sun on Sunday: “I can confirm that they have separated and I would appreciate your privacy about it. She is very busy with work right now.”
The source added: “The whirlwind romance ended and the couple decided to go their separate ways.
“They love each other very much, but ultimately, she knew it couldn’t work out long-term, so she felt it was best not to continue their relationship.
“Patsy currently has many exciting job opportunities and has thrown herself into her career.”
Last September, Patric proposed to Patsy at Scott’s Fish Restaurant in London’s Mayfair, buying champagne for his restaurant mates when she agreed.
In February, the actress took to her Instagram page to share photos of the mogul getting down on one knee on the beach, apparently making the engagement “official.” She also showed the sprinkler of hers.
But last month, viewers said Patric got into a heated argument with Patsy during a charity event at the Nuthurst Grange Country House Hotel in Solihull, West Midlands.
A colleague revealed: “He stole her engagement ring from her finger, as well as her watch and bag.
Patric tossed the bag onto his chest. Then he sped away.
She seemed visibly upset and shocked.
“Patsy didn’t seem to know what she did wrong.”
It comes after Patric was branded a “love rat” last year by an ex-partner who claims he was seeing her until he proposed to Patsy.
He was also filmed in May moving the lock on the steering wheel to a plainclothes engineer sent to test a burglar alarm at his building in Mayfair, west London.
Patric was seen yelling, “I’m going to kill you” at the worker, who said he was “terrified.”

Patsy recounted how she felt “so blessed” earlier this year after falling in love again and landing her dream role in Albert Square as Emma Harding, the estranged mother of Lola Pearce.
She said: “I feel good. I try to be the best I can be for my age and the best possible version of myself.
“I am a hopeless romantic and I believe in love. I am very excited for the future on many levels. I am happy and feel very blessed.
“I’ve been very busy. My feet haven’t touched the ground yet, but I’m very grateful. I’ve learned from every situation, good and bad, and learned a lesson. I don’t regret a thing.”
Quadruply married Patsy, a former model and lead singer of the 1980s pop band Eighth Wonder, previously joked that she had married everyone she dated.
But the mother-of-two said she only counts her children’s fathers in her “significant” marriages, which would mean Simple Minds singer Jim Kerr and former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher.
She said: “Well, I’ve married all my boyfriends, so it’s something I’ve learned not to do.
“I can’t change the rules of the law, but I was with Jim and Lennon’s (Liam) father for years, so I count them as my two marriages.
“I know it’s not allowed, I know it was a ceremony. But I feel like these were really meaningful relationships, very deep and wonderful in so many ways.”
Patsy, who also played Sadie King on Emmerdale from 2004 to 2006, vowed to never walk down the aisle again during Celebrity Big Brother 2015.
The actress, whose last marriage to DJ Jeremy Healy ended in 2010, insisted: “I’m a hopeless romantic and I wanted all my marriages to work.
“But I don’t think I’ll ever get married again. I think I destroyed the sanctity of it.
Last October, The Sun revealed how Patric had been dating another woman until he proposed to the soap opera star.
But he left a message for Julia Simons, 39, the day before news of the engagement broke.
He claimed that she “needed someone her age”, and then saw her.
He and his brother started their own development company called the Cassidy Group, building luxury ski chalets in the French Alps and student accommodation.
Patsy’s role on EastEnders as Lola, a mother of a brain tumor, ended in February.
She is scheduled to appear in the Death In Paradise Christmas special.
