Saint Paul Simon News

Paul Simon’s new album, Seven Psalms, is a series-like concept album with seven separate but connected songs, aka “moving,” meant to be heard as a 33-minute composition.

Since 2016’s “Stranger to Stranger” and 2018’s “In the Blue Light,” which were cover albums of previous songs, the May 19 release will be the first all-new compilation he’s released.

According to the introduction at the end of the trailer Simon released for the new album, the release will also include an accompanying documentary, “In Restless Dreams,” directed by Alex Gibney. There is no official announcement about the movie yet.

His wife, Edie Brickell, was a guest on the album, which was recorded entirely on acoustic instruments with choral contributions from the British choir VOCES8. Co-produced with artist Kyle Crusham.

Though the statement doesn’t mention a specific studio, Simon is said to have produced the new material at Reservoir Studios in New York last year, according to people working at neighboring studios.

On January 15, 2019, I had a dream that said, “You’re working on a piece called ‘Seven Psalms’,” Simon said in the album’s trailer. Because the dream was so vivid, I got up and wrote it down. However, I’m not sure what that means.

Information will eventually come. The words would start to come to me between 3:30 and 5 a.m., two or three mornings a week, and I would write them down before I started putting the pieces together.

“I like to work and then explore,” he said. It’s extremely fascinating, I must say. I am constantly working to move events in a way that feels like a dream, and I believe that if you are willing to do that, you are also willing to give up your better judgment.

“I have to finish this trip. This whole essay is really just me debating whether I should believe it or not. Lyrics In the trailer, one can hear Simon singing, among other things: The face in the sky is God’s. My profile was created by God. “Hopefully the door won’t close before your forgiveness,” the song continues.

The documentary’s announcer also stated that the theme concerns “how often your beliefs tend to be tied to your conception of death.”
