Netflix’s 2022 true crime series The Tinder Swindler followed the stories of several women who were conned out of hundreds of thousands of dollars by a prolific playboy con artist named Shimon Hayut.
But before we get to his “works,” let’s get to know this scammer a bit more. Shimon is a resident of Israel who befriended several women posing as Lev Leviev’s son, Simon Leviev. Furthermore, to make his lies seem more believable, Hayut even went so far as to legally change his name and employ staff as assistants and bodyguards.
On Tinder, the guy targeted women in Europe (Norway, Finland and Denmark) in particular, whom he tricked into handing over large sums of money.
Fortunately, Shimon was captured and imprisoned in December 2019 in Israel and sentenced to 15 months in prison. But he only served five months of his sentence.
Now that Shimon’s background has been established, know that Pernilla was only one of three women he cheated on. The other two (Cecilie Fjellhøy and Ayleen Charlotte) also starred in The Tinder Swindler.
