During the February 2023 Nintendo Direct, Nintendo revealed this Pikmin 4 releases July 21st exclusively for Switch. The game will bring a new type of Pikmin as well as a companion dog.

The latest trailer showed off some new features of the game, including the new ice element Pikmin. This creature can be thrown at enemies to freeze them, before throwing another Pikmin, like yellow lightning, to deal heavy damage.
There is also a new dog that has joined the protagonist of the franchise, Olimar. This dog can perform a variety of exploratory tasks, including breaking large rocks, dragging large objects out of the way, and carrying Olimar and his Pikmin across bodies of water.
Except Pikmin 4Nintendo’s tentpole edition this year is The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Realmbut the company has several other releases like the one already launched Fire Emblem Engage and March Bayonetta Origin: Cereza and The lost demon. As a result, Nintendo’s Fall 2023 release calendar is pretty light so far. However, knowing Nintendo, it should charge up as the year goes on.
Nintendo now has a big release coming over the summer to keep its momentum of exclusive game releases going until the inevitable successor to the Nintendo Switch. The new hardware likely won’t be until at least 2024, seven years after the Switch’s initial launch in 2017.
Pikmin 4 it was already confirmed to be in development back in 2015, but has apparently been relaunched in 2019. It’s been 10 years since Pikmin 3 released on Wii U. However, if Pikmin fans want to play something similar in the meantime, Tinykin is a great Pikmin-like game that will overwhelm them.
