Police comes to save the day after rescuing cat stuck atop utility pole

After the cat was found stuck on a pole, bystanders immediately contacted the Columbia Borough Police Department. The department had to bring in a bucket truck to rescue the cat.

The Columbia Borough Police Department announced in a press release: “The Columbia Borough Police would like to thank the crew from PPL Electric Utilities for rescuing a stranded cat precariously perched on a telephone pole at Fifth and Walnut Streets at 10/11/23 around 1:30 a.m. Police Department at about 12:33 p.m. neighbors called to express concern about the cat. The gray and white cat was rescued by a bucket truck after the power to the utility lines was shut off. The incident resulted in a ten-minute outage for about 200 PPL customers.”

They further added, “Columbia Borough Police officers were conducting traffic control for the added safety of the PPL crew. The Columbia Animal Shelter graciously accepted the cat, who will be cared for until the owner is identified.”

This is not the first time that a cat was found in a difficult situation and had to be rescued. Earlier, a cat was found trapped inside a cell phone tower. He was rescued after being spotted by a passerby. San Antonio Animal Services took to Facebook to describe the incident.
