He clarified that he had never offered any recommendations to the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding ‘penalties or rewards’ for cricketers. He further denied any ‘cricket connection’. This statement by Tata comes in response to widespread WhatsApp forwards and videos falsely claiming that he had promised a certain amount of money to Afghanistan cricketer Rashid Khan. Although Tata refrained from mentioning anyone by name in his tweet, he made his position clear.

“I have not made any suggestions to the ICC or any cricket faculty about any member of cricket regarding a fine or award for any player. I have nothing to do with cricket. Please do not trust WhatsApp forwards and videos of such nature unless they come from my official platforms,” Ratan Tata tweeted.
