Resident Evil 4 locked drawers guide: all Small Key locations

The Keys and Resident Evil games are like peanut butter and jelly. If you’re not fighting zombies, look for a key that will take you to the next room — where you’ll fight more zombies. Although there are many mandatory keys in the Resident Evil 4 remake, there’s also a set of extra keys that you can completely miss. These small keys are used to unlock locked drawers you come across, unlike doors, and they hold some very valuable treasures. Considering how precious money is in this game, the more treasure you can find and sell to your merchant friend, the better off you’ll be. Small keys aren’t often in your direct path, and once you leave an area, in most cases you can’t come back for them later. We’ll help you become an unlocking master by showing you where to insert all the little keys Resident Evil 4as well as where to use them.

Where to find all the small keys

Before entering the small key location, note that these keys are not exclusive to one drawer. Any small key can be used to open each drawer, so feel free to use them up as soon as you find a drawer with a key in hand. However, once you leave an area Resident Evil 4, no return. This means that if you’ve left keys or drawers behind, you won’t be able to open them unless you start a new gameplay or wait until you start a new game. There are eight small keys you can get and they are all located within the first two zones of the game, but they will not appear on your map. Locked drawers also won’t by default, but if you buy a treasure map from a merchant, the drawers will be placed on your map. Here’s how to find all the keys and where the nearest locked drawer is in the order you first encounter them.

The first key you can get is in Chapter 2 in the Valley. After meeting the Merchant, you will be sent to the Valley to find a key to open the door opposite the Merchant. After clearing out the enemies, drop down to the lowest level at the south end and enter the hut. Inside, turn right and look for a box on a shelf. Loot it and pick up the first small key. The closest locked drawer is back at the Factory next to the Merchant. Go to the room where you retrieved Leon’s gear after it was taken from him and use the key on the desk drawer.

Also in Chapter 2, as part of the main quest, you will enter the village chief’s castle. Stay on the ground floor, go to the southwest side of the building and grab this key lying on a pile of papers next to the couch. Here you will need to complete the puzzles to move on to the next chapter and get to the locked drawer. After Chapter 3 starts, you can go straight back to the village from the beginning of the game and to the central house on the north side of the “street” to unlock the drawer.

In Fish Farm Village, in the same building you have to visit to get fuel for the ship, go outside and head southwest. There will be a smaller wooden building with some drawers that you can loot for a key. Take it back to the merchant’s shop by the dock, jump down to the lower level and go right. There is a hidden drawer here that you can unlock

Move on to Chapter 4, where you gain access to explore the lake with your boat. You want to take the boat to the Lakeside Settlement, then go all the way north through the door you can open with your tag key. This will lead you to the forest altar after climbing the ladder near the corpse. A small key is sitting on a cart to the north. The nearest unlock drawers are very close at Lakeside Village. Enter the largest building and look for locked drawers along the wall on the left.

Once you’ve entered the Church, the next Small Key is very hard to miss. Simply pick it up from the table next to the main altar. Take the key outside again and around to the southwest to the small building with the typewriter in it that you’ve probably already visited and noticed the locked drawer.

Your next small key won’t appear until chapter 8 when you enter the castle. After solving the puzzle in the Bindery area, you’ll go through a long, narrow corridor and up a flight of stairs, where you’ll get a scare. When this happens, look left at the dead end. The small key is on the box under the window. Return to the entrance to the Bindery and, instead of the drawers as usual, use the key on the armor.

When you reach the Great Hall in Chapter 9, go to the second floor on the west side and head north through the wooden door. Inside this small room is a drawer from which you can steal this key. Return the way you came to the audience hall and look along the north wall to find a locked drawer.

You can pick up and use the last key in chapter 12 in the ballroom, which you already visited in chapter 10. This time you can get the key by going to the right side of the train you were on, on the north side of the circular area and open the briefcase holding the key. The last drawer is unfortunately quite far in the Battlements castle. Head through the Ballroom, Great Hall and Courtyard to reach it and enter the first tower on your right. The drawers are hidden behind the wall on the right.
