After receiving criticism for bringing her lover to a face-to-face meeting with International Olympic Committee (IOC) officials over the weekend, Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has issued several apologies.
The Queensland leader and her traveling companion Reza Adib arrived in Sydney on Sunday to take part in a one-hour meeting between organizers and IOC members.
Top Olympic leaders, including IOC President Thomas Bach, outgoing and incoming Australian Olympic Committee Presidents John Coates and Ian Chesterman, as well as Brisbane Mayor Adrian Schrinner, were in attendance at the event.
But she stunned everyone when her partner turned up at the Sofitel Hotel in Harbor City in beige chinos and a blue checkered suit. At a press conference on Tuesday, Ms Palaszczuk admitted she should not have invited her boyfriend to the event because of a “mistake” she had made.
She told reporters: “I appreciate that there have been comments regarding this catch-up. “I am aware that I made a mistake. I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have brought my girlfriend to that meeting. As I said, it was just a chance encounter; there was never any point in causing anyone any harm.
When asked by reporters about inviting Dr. Adib, she said it was a “mistake” to do so. Then Ms Palaszczuk revealed what she had discussed at the “informal chat” in the boardroom of the palatial hotel.
“Let me explain what I was talking about. I was talking about topics that I have already talked about publicly, so I was talking about the world broadcasting center. The Cross River train project and the OCOG committee (Organizing Committee) held their first meetings, she added. dr.
