Richard shared that while his works are mostly built in Melbourne, his studio is on Phillip Island and Gipsy Point. But despite all the greatness of his work, Richard himself assured that he is not interested in standing out. He is not particularly interested in advertising. He liked to keep a completely quieter, slower and less ‘hyper’ approach to building design. But that certainly doesn’t stop him from attracting more and more attention every day.
In 2019, Richard significantly facilitated the renovation of a heritage-listed building in suburban Collingwood, reimagining the Victorian-era space as ‘Simhanada’, an Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga studio.
Ultimately, Richard attributes his success to his great teachers and mentors. He especially stressed that working for Peter and Renzo Piano, in very different ways, had a great influence on him.
