S Jaishankar meets Rishi Sunak at 10 Downing Street on Diwali, gifts cricket bat signed by Virat Kohli

Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, the External Affairs Minister of India, is currently on a five-day official visit to the United Kingdom. He arrived in Britain on November 11th and will be there until November 15th. During his visit, he met British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty at 10 Downing Street to wish Diwali on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Not only that, he, along with his wife Kyoko Jaishankar, even presented a Ganesha statue and a cricket bat signed by former Indian captain Virat Kohli to the British Prime Minister.

Jaishankar tweeted, “Delighted to invite PM @RishiSunak on #Diwali day. Conveyed PM @narendramodi’s best wishes. India and the United Kingdom are actively involved in reshaping relations for the modern age. Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Sunak for the warm welcome and kind hospitality.” In addition, he shared several pictures from the meeting with Prime Minister Sunak.

The UK PM’s official handler also tweeted pictures from their meeting and wrote: “Prime Minister @RishiSunak greeted @DrSJaishankar in Downing Street tonight. Together they expressed their best wishes as Indian communities around the world begin #Diwali celebrations.”
