News Sasikanth Senthil
The 4 S-cards have been widely praised by party circles for their contribution to securing the best ever results of Parliament in the state since 1989. The National Assembly came to power in Karnataka, winning an impressive 135 seats in the election to the National Assembly of 224 members. The Karnataka Pradesh Parliament Committee (KPCC) leader DK Shivakumar and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah are two of the “4 Ss”, while survey strategist Sunil Kanugolu represents the third “S”. Sasikanth Senthil, a former IAS officer who oversaw the war room of Parliament in Bengaluru, played a key role in shaping the narrative against the Basavaraj Bommai-led BJP government on corruption and was represented by the fourth “S”. Building on Senthil’s concepts, Congress launched several anti-corruption campaigns against BJP, focusing specifically on their “40% government commission” platform. One campaign that stood out was called “PayCM”, which featured posters with QR codes and photos of CM Bommai titled “PayCM” followed him to Hyderabad where banners saying “Welcome to CM 40% Commission” appeared as soon as he arrived.
Senthil, a staunch opponent of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA)/National Register of Citizens (NRC) proposal led by BJP-administration led by Narendra Modi, has traveled across India speaking with local citizens and activists who oppose it. A convicted socialist, he decided to join parliament after participating in Congress in November 2020. He stated that he has always fought for what is good for people and will continue to do so under senior party leadership like Tamil Nadu KS Alagiri and later AICC secretary-general Dinesh Gundu Rao.
Before joining politics full-time, Senthil worked with several committees including Parliamentary Training Committee and also worked at party war rooms during elections. His tenure as Dakshina Kannada DC from June 2017 to September 2019 was praised by a section of BJP members for his pro-people measures and tough action against sand mafia and its political masters, despite his strong stance against right-wing forces. According to party sources, his work during Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Joda Yatra in September and October brought him closer to the Congress leader.
