He has been cited in several press reports as being responsible for harassment and attempted sexual assault. Ubisoft editorial vice president Tommy Francois has stepped down as editor, the group confirmed to AFP on Monday. According to digital news website Numerama, the announcement was sent to employees via an internal email signed by the group’s chief executive, Yves Guillemot, explaining that Tommy Francis “has left the group with immediate effect”.
A former moderator of the specialized GameOne channel, Tommy Francis joined Ubisoft in 2006 and served as Vice President of Editorial for just over five years. He was quoted in a series of articles published by several media outlets, including AFP, regarding cases of harassment and sexual assault whose revelations have deeply shaken the group for nearly two months.

Since the first testimonies emerged in late June, several of the group’s leaders have been sidelined or resigned, including the group’s number two, Serge Hascoët, who left in mid-July as head of creation. Ubisoft also left the head of the Montreal studio, as well as the director of human resources of the group.

Ubisoft has not been able to guarantee its employees a working environment that is safe and inclusive,” lamented Yves Guillemot, quoted in a press release announcing their departure. “This is not acceptable. Any behavior that is toxic is completely contrary to values that I have never traded with and will not cross,” the officer said.
The company, which has 18,000 employees worldwide, 22 percent of whom are women, has launched several internal investigations since the first revelations and began restructuring its human resources department, accused of covering up some of the toxic behavior.
