The three children were raised by Silas Duane Boston, a former resident of Sacramento, California. He was taken into custody on December 16, 2016 at the Paradise Rehabilitation Facility for the murders of Chris Farmer and Pete Frampton. The couple were from Manchester and were killed at sea between June and July 1978.
Silas, 75, was taken into custody by the FBI after a lengthy investigation, according to an ABC 10 story. He was then accused of murdering an English couple, whose bodies were discovered by fishermen on July 8, 1978, about 200 meters off the coast in Punta de Manabique, Guatemala. Before being thrown into the ocean, both individuals were tortured and tied to large engine components.
According to reports, Chris Farmer and Peta Frampton began sailing with Silas Duane Boston and his two sons, Vince and Russell, while reportedly halfway around the world. The pair never reached their destination as they sailed from Belize to Honduras. A private detective informed their families of their deaths many months later.
According to the publication, two of Silas’ children claimed that their father moved them from Sacramento to Belize to avoid being charged with a statutory crime. They added that they met Chis and Peta while on one of their father’s illegal visitor boat trips.
Vince and Russell, who were 13 and 11 years old respectively, admitted to seeing the murders in 1978. According to The Cinemaholic, Chris allegedly intervened while Silas was abusing the boys and the two clashed. Their father “snapped and tried to swing at Chris, but he ducked and dad fell into the water.” during an argument.
After that, Silas, out of humiliation, started plotting and attacked the couple with a wooden club. He even stabbed Chris with a fillet knife before stripping them naked, placing plastic bags over their heads and tying heavy engine parts to their bodies before throwing them overboard into the deep Caribbean Sea.
Detectives also believed that Silas was responsible for the disappearance of his wife Mary Lou in 1968. According to The Cinemaholic, Vince Boston remembered his grandmother telling them that she didn’t want to lie anymore and said that “your mother is never coming back.”
Silas allegedly shot Mary because she wanted a divorce, which he did.
Sadly, Silas Duane Boston passed away on April 24, 2017 in hospital, preventing his prosecution for the crimes. According to reports, the accused exercised his right to terminate medical care, and died as a result.
