Special Ops: Leona Summary of episodes 1 and 2: What was Cruz’s mission?
The episodes began in the desert country of Syria. The CIA was stationed in an unstable area. It was located right next to enemy territory. The conflict between the CIA and the terrorists was inevitable. The CIA was led by Joe (played by Zoe Saldaña). She was a strong and prudent leader, respected by everyone on her team. Joe dropped a spy named Cruz Manuelos in enemy territory.
As expected, the terrorists fired on the CIA, so the team had to fight back. Joe got a call from Cruz. She revealed that she was hiding because her screen was exposed. The terrorists found out that she was working for the Americans. Joe tried to save her, but the terrorists got to her first. Just as they began to torture Cruz, Joe ordered them to bomb the area where she was. The Americans dropped a bomb from the sky and it seemed that no one, including Cruz, survived.
A jump in time occurred and the history of these two women was revealed. Cruz had a terrible life. She used to work at a burger joint, she did almost nothing and she was in an abusive relationship. She, her boyfriend and a dozen other people lived in her house. Frustrated, she hit her boyfriend one morning and ran for her life.
The boy followed her, but before he could catch her, she was rescued by a marine officer. Cruz was soon drafted into the United States Marine Corps. He was strong, very smart and impressed everyone in the company.
On the other hand, CIA agent Joe was married to a surgeon named Neil. Their marriage wasn’t the best, but they tried to make it work. The couple even had two daughters. Since both parents had boring jobs, they could barely spend time with their children.
Joe received a secret mission. A dangerous terrorist in Syria was going to be destroyed. To succeed, he needed an extremely efficient marina. This came in the form of a Cross. Joe was impressed with Cruz’s abilities, so it wasn’t long before she was recruited.
Joe and Cruz eventually made plans to capture the terrorists. The idea was simple. Cruz was supposed to get close to the target’s daughter. The CIA will be able to keep a close eye on the family as the two women grow closer. Then, when the iron was hot, the terrorists would be shot down.
Cruz did exactly that. She entered the store where the target’s daughter, Aaliyah, was. Cruz and Aaliyah became easy friends. While this was happening, Joe was watching everything from the outside.
