Bethesda is a studio that has achieved great success with its massive single player RPG games like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4. While the company has recently been messing around with games like Fallout 76 (and to a lesser extent, Fallout 4) disappointed players, the studio is pushing forward and has some ambitious projects on the horizon. One such project is Star fielda game that was first announced during Bethesda’s E3 2018 presentation.
Following Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda, rumors of Star fieldReleases have accelerated, and now that we’ve had a look at its gameplay, we know a lot more about the project. Even after a delay of almost a year, excitement for Star field he doesn’t seem to have weakened. We’ve gathered as much information as we can to bring you everything we know about Bethesda’s upcoming sci-fi RPG Star field.

At this point, it’s clear that it won’t be coming to PlayStation or Nintendo since Bethesda is now Microsoft’s first developer. Ahead of the game’s unveiling at E3 2021, GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb had this to say Star field it will not appear on PlayStation, stating that it is exclusive to Xbox. Microsoft confirmed this shortly after.
Given the scope of the game, it makes sense that it will only be available for current hardware. We also know Star field it will launch on Xbox Game Pass on day one, allowing even more players to enjoy it.

We got our first look at the Star field during Bethesda’s E3 2018 presentation, and aside from conveying the tone, it didn’t reveal much. Bethesda was actually reluctant to reveal the game this early, but as Howard explained during an interview with NoClip, fans already suspected the team was working on Star field after filing a trademark application in 2013. The team wanted to give fans a roadmap of what to expect from Bethesda Game Studios in the future and decided to pull back the mask – but perhaps too soon, as some fans have pointed out.

Fast forward to E3 2021, where Bethesda showed even more Star field, along with the (at the time) issue date. The two-minute trailer didn’t feature any gameplay, but conveyed the aesthetic and what you can expect from its tone and themes. It had some beautiful visuals – all built into the engine. In the trailer, a character can be seen preparing the spacecraft for flight. We also saw a mysterious planet, some kind of robot and the inside of a spaceship.

Then, in mid-March 2022, Bethesda released a new extended trailer featuring more footage Star field, with team discussion. The extended trailer lasts almost 15 minutes, although no gameplay has been shown yet. In addition to the footage, the developers focused on the game’s environments and characters. Bethesda takes priority when saving Star field grounded, which is mentioned in the trailer.
Then, four years after the initial reveal, Bethesda finally showed off gameplay for Starfield at the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase 2022. The developer gave an extensive look, offering 15 minutes of new footage for the long-awaited game. We’ll dive into more gameplay details below.

Parts of Star field they’ve already been playable since E3 2018. That was five years ago, and the game is now in even better shape. “We know the game we’re making now, and one of the reasons we announced it is because it looks really great. We have [a] track in front of us and we know what’s going on,” Howard told GameSpot in 2018. When it comes to gameplay and what to expect from Star field compared to other Bethesda games, Howard concluded, “It has what you’d expect and more.”
“It’s different, but if you sit down and play it, you’d recognize it as something we did, does that make sense? It has our DNA in it. There are things we like,” Howard told Eurogamer 2018.

In 2020, pictures allegedly from Star field has surfaced, giving us a possible glimpse into the game’s UI and characters. Now that the game has been shown, it’s clear that those leaks were the real deal. Another leak from Reddit (reported by GamesRadar) suggests that every planet in the Star field is greater than the whole Skyrimalthough that has not been confirmed either.
In an interview with The Telegraph, Howard said: “The game is set about 300-plus years into our future, and Constellation is the last group of space explorers. It’s like NASA meets Indiana Jones with the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen — a group of people who are still looking for answers.”
“There are a lot of factions in the game, but this is the main one you’ll become a part of. It’s kind of like Skyrim in terms of the structure of the game, where you will be what you want to be, and then [there are] different factions that you can join and really forge your own path.”
We know that science and religion will play a role in this Star field, as stated by Howard. “We’re asking some big questions in the game — the kind of questions people ask when they look up at the sky, you know? What’s out there? Why are we here? How are we going to get here?’ And we enter science, we enter religion.”
Starfield: Official Gameplay Reveal
Then, at Xbox Showcase 2022, Bethesda finally showed off the game in action, and based on initial reactions, Star field it seems to be what players have come to expect, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The gameplay video began with footage of a giant spaceship (which is fully customizable) landing on a planet. From there, the main character can be seen exploring, defeating enemies, gathering resources and infiltrating an enemy base. The video featured third-person and first-person camera perspectives throughout, which is typical of Bethesda games.
While the core gameplay loop will play out as you might expect, most of the action feels like a step up from previous Bethesda games, at least from a polished perspective. There’s a point where the game goes full-on FPS, so we’re curious to see how that plays out with the various weapons later in the story.
Another topic of conversation is the fact that Star field it will have more than 1000 planets to explore. Each will be filled with unique flora and fauna and will have dynamic lighting based on the type of star the planet orbits. What you do on these planets will be procedurally generated, but also mixed with some handcrafted elements. The planets themselves will be built only when the player approaches them, and the locations on the surface will be assembled on the fly so that each player will have a different experience. Of course, you’ll interact with NPCs, engage in quests, collect resources, and engage in battles with intergalactic enemies. Although this game shares a lot with No man’s skySeems like Star field will lean a little more into the action.
Star field it will also feature a robust character creator with a range of skills to unlock. These are skills that resemble many others from previous Bethesda games, but with a space theme. You’ll also be able to craft a variety of weapons, equipment, medicine, and even food — using items you find while exploring.
And you’ll need all the help you can get because many of the planets will contain deadly creatures that are sure to put your skills to the test. As you explore other planets, you’ll be able to build your own outposts that help generate resources. You can even hire other NPCs to help you run the outpost, making it easier to keep things running while you complete missions.
Ship battles will also be present in Star fieldgiving you action not only on the planets but also in the sky above them.
Additionally, expect around 111,000 lines of dialogue (almost double the Skyrim), factions, the persuasion system, unlocking and other familiar mechanics from past Bethesda games.
Starfield Direct – Dive into the game
A full 45 minutes of gameplay and information was shown in a special Starfield Direct 2023 that finally gave players a real idea of what Star field it will be like in action.
We see multiple outpost buildings that can be built on any planet. The build process takes you to a top-down view for easy setup. Once you build an outpost, you can assign your crew to manage it to passively gather resources from the planet and even deliver them to other locations for you.
We’ve seen more ship customizations, but what’s new has been the details of how ships can be obtained. In addition to simply buying them, you are also free to steal them. However you get them, piloting between planets will be completely manual rather than a simple fast travel function (although that’s an option too). If you do run into trouble with the transport, you can either destroy the attacking enemy ship or board them to take the crew aboard and claim their craft for yourself.
Your player character will be fully customizable, as expected from a Bethesda game. This time, the studio claims to have created the most advanced character creator yet, with 40 presets to start with and tweak to create your ideal avatar. In addition to appearance, you will also determine the history of your character. This will give your character some initial background to comment on, as well as your first set of skills. You’ll be able to add traits if you want, which gives you one advantage and one disadvantage. Your normal skills will improve using said skills, just like in Skyrim.
Gunplay will be the main part Star fieldand looks far more solid than Turn out. There are a huge number of weapons, each of which can be customized in different ways through the mod system.
The last one shown was the most interesting and at the same time the most mysterious. We see the player use some kind of technique or magical power to remove gravity or stop a hallway full of enemies with a wave of the hand. What that power is, whether there are more, and how you get it, is still as mysterious as the final frontier itself.
