Most of the major email service providers like Gmail, Yahoo, etc. offer the ability to create folders. Folders let you manage your email accounts and keep your emails separate from each other. Every day you receive countless emails, some of which are not so important. So you can easily move the important ones into a separate folder and check the folder whenever you need email.
Another situation is when you don’t need the email of a particular folder anymore. In that case, you can simply delete that Yahoo mail folder. If you don’t know how, I’ll show you how to delete a folder in Yahoo mail.

Create a folder in Yahoo Mail
- First you need to sign in to your Yahoo email account and once logged in click on the ‘Mail’ icon in the top right corner.
- On the next page, click on the ‘New Folder’ option located at the bottom of the left column.
- Then in the text field provided enter the name of your folder for example here I am creating a folder called Work where I can keep all my work related emails yourself’, after entering the name, click the blue ‘Arrow’ button or press ‘Enter’ on your keyboard.
- That’s it and your new Yahoo folder has been created.
Delete a folder in Yahoo Mail
See the steps to delete your Yahoo Mail account folder:
- Click the ‘Mail’ icon in the upper right corner after logging into your Yahoo account.
- In the left column, scroll down and you will see all the folders that you have created; Click on the one you want to delete. Here I clicked on the one I want to delete i.e. the job.
- You will see all the emails the folder has; you have to delete all of them before you can delete the folder. You cannot delete the Yahoo folder without deleting the email. So select all the emails in the folder and click ‘Delete’.
- Now click on the folder arrow button and you will see some options, click on the one that says ‘Delete Folder’.
- This has successfully deleted your Yahoo folder.
Delete folder in basic version of Yahoo Mail
If you’re still using the basic version, here’s how to delete a folder in it, make sure you move all important messages from the folder you’re about to delete.
- Go to the ‘My Folders’ section in the left column and select the folder you want to delete.
- Click ‘Edit’ next to ‘My Folder’.
- In the ‘My Folders’ section, click ‘Delete’ next to the folder name.
- Press ‘Ok’ to confirm
