UP Schools: The Uttar Pradesh Education Department will start teaching the concepts of coding, computational thinking and artificial intelligence to more than 50 thousand students from classes 6 to 8. According to media reports, more than 45,000 government schools will introduce these courses in the next academic session 2024-25. SCERT has already prepared books for all the three classes which will be unveiled by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath soon. After completing the books, SCERT is now in the process of finalizing the training modules for the master trainers who will train the teachers.

Basics of coding, AI will be part of science subject

This curriculum, developed by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), will integrate coding into the subject of science. Coding and computer programming have become important tools in nurturing the personality of students. Given the importance of technology in today’s competitive world, coding is mandated under NEP-2020 from 6th grade onwards

Subtopics in Coding Basics and AI

In this course, 6th graders will delve into basic computer science concepts, including Microsoft Word, programming, and Python. For those studying in grades 7 and 8, the curriculum will expand to include topics such as networking, cyber security, logical reasoning, Microsoft Excel, data analysis and artificial intelligence.

Public school students to become more competitive

Director of General School Education Vijay Kiran Anand said, “Following the NEP mandate, SCERT is working with experts and organizations to ensure future-proof content and curriculum, teacher training and regular assessment of financial intelligence, business intelligence, coding, and AI. It will make public school students more competitive.”

UP Schools in Barabanki and LakhimpurKheri districts will remain closed today

Due to heavy rain, schools in Barabanki and Lakhimpur Kheri will remain closed today. According to available details, eight areas of tehsil in Lakhimpur Kheri experienced heavy downpours, due to which District Magistrate Mahendra Bahadur Singh ordered closure of all schools, from pre-school to class 12, for today, September 12, 2023.
