Who is the ex-husband of Susan Noles?
Susan Noles was previously married to her ex-husband Dickie Noles. It is not clear when they married, but they were married until at least March 2021 as they were mentioned as a couple when Susan lost her brother.
Dickie was the Phillies’ fourth-round draft pick in 1975, and now serves as the organization’s employee assistance specialist (EAP). As an 18-year-old that summer, he went 2-2 with a 3.60 ERA in nine games for Auburn in the New York-Penn League. And he was arrested.
“One of our Latin players, he ordered a soda,” Dickie remembered, “and the bartender said, ‘Soda?’ And he put a cherry in it. The guy says, ‘I don’t want a cherry in there,’ and the bartender takes it out with his hand. So the kid said, ‘I don’t want that one. I want another one.’ He said, ‘Take that one.’ I looked at him and said, ‘Give him another drink’. The guy said, ‘No.’ I said, ‘I’m going to kick your damn rear, give him another one.’ And we fight.”
The following year in Spartanburg, SC, Dickie was arrested, he said, after setting off a fire alarm.
He played 11 major league seasons with six clubs, including the Phils’ 1980 world champions, and often equates his twins’ lipstick-using curiosity with the way others abuse drugs and alcohol.
The pitcher — the one the right-hander threw up during Game 4 of the 1980 World Series to send Kansas City third baseman George Brett tumbling back into the dirt — has been called by many the turning point of that series, which the Phillies won in six games.
Dickie ran into a series of problems with the law until April 1983 when he was accused of punching a police officer and sent to prison. He went to therapy for drinking.
“So I started telling them and then it started to hit me, I’ve never been in a scrimmage sober since I was a kid or on the field, a guy attacking the mound,” Noles said. “I said, ‘Man, I don’t control my emotions well when I drink.’ So that day began my recovery and I realized that I had to stop and see what kind of person I really am.”
Since then, Dickie has been nationally recognized in the field. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Drug and Alcohol Board and the Keystone Drug and Alcohol Center. He was named Humanitarian of the Year by the Sunshine Foundation in 1997, and won the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association Humanitarian Award in 2010.
The exes have twin sons Christopher and Nicholas Noles and daughter Brittany Noles.
Christopher is married to his wife Jessica Noles. They have a son named Mason Noles. Sadly, the couple lost their baby girl, Mya Rae Noles, just two days after her birth on November 8, 2018.
