Sydney Buck is one of ten contestants on Hulu The secret chef. Ten contestants from across the country are competing in the streaming service’s latest cooking competition series for a chance to win $100,000. A group consisting of gourmet chefs, social media stars and home cooks compete to win the grand prize.
A mischievous talking animated chef’s hat guides contestants in “Secret Chef” as they go through a series of cooking challenges inside a hidden underground kitchen maze connected by a network of conveyor belts. The chefs rated each other’s finished dishes in blind tasting tests, keeping the voting process secret. The executive director of the show is chef David Chang. Produced by Wheelhouse’s Spoke Studios, Majordomo Media and Vox Media Studios.
“I think the experience has been amazing, I’ve met so many amazing chefs, you know, and to be in a room with so many talented people is a really inspiring thing,” the chef shared of her experience on the show with QNS. “I had the best time and I can’t wait for everyone to watch it. It’s a wild ride.”
The career of Sydney Buck
Sydney Buck is a self-taught chef who learned from her family members and all kinds of cooking media. He likes to experiment and develop new dishes by mixing different flavor profiles. Before opening BuckWild Kitchen, her own private cooking service in Ridgewood, Buck worked full-time as the head chef at Cherry on Top Wine Bar at 379 Suydam St. in Brooklyn.
“A lot of my friends are like graphic designers or social workers, but I think when I moved to Ridgewood I started meeting more people who were in the industry, like bartenders or chefs, just by going out in the area,” Sydney told QNS. “I think a lot of people who are chefs or bartenders live in this area, and I’ve slowly started to make friends with people who are in my industry.”
Sydney, who spent seven years working in the beauty industry, decided to pursue cooking full-time in June 2020. As she struggled to advance in the beauty profession, encouragement from her friends – especially during the pandemic – prompted her to consider cooking as a full-time career.
“… I’ve come so far in the past year from just pushing myself with what I’m doing and it’s really important for me to see how far I’ve come,” Sydney told the outlet. He hopes to “open his own coffee shop in the community, cooking delicious and affordable meals for the neighborhood.”
