Officers have now released CCTV footage of the two men they want to speak to.

The alleged kidnapping was prevented by a female hero who intervened.

The young woman was walking along the High Street in West Wickham, Bromley, south-east London at 11.45am on June 24 when she was approached by a man.

It is believed that he tried to convince her to leave with him, but a passer-by saw that she was uncomfortable and took her to a nearby shop.

And the owner of the store now discovered what was unfolding in front of him.

Maunil Patel (35), owner of Shriji News, said the young girl was a local and frequented the shop.

He told MailOnline: “Two men who I didn’t see came in shortly afterwards.

“The girl looked around the store for a few minutes, and the men watched her closely, watching what she was doing and maybe looking to see if anyone was with her.”

Maunil claimed that one of the men went outside and the girl came out shortly after and he followed the young man.

He said that’s when the woman in the long dress started looking at the young girl and then named her.

The shop owner continued: “A few seconds later she came out of the shop and challenged the man. I heard her tell him she was going to call the police and asked the girl to come with her.

“The girl, who by now was quite confused and scared, entered the store with the woman.”

He said the man hung around before he left and crossed the road.

The Met Police said: “Detectives investigating the attempted abduction have released images of two men who they want to identify and speak to.

“At 11.45am on Saturday, June 24, an 11-year-old girl was approached by a man in High Street, West Wickham who tried to persuade her to leave with him.

“The citizen, seeing that the child looked nervous, intervened and took her to the store.

“Officers want to hear from anyone who can name the men in the pictures.

“If you can name them or have any information that could assist this investigation please call 101 or tweet @MetCC on 3430/24JUN23.”

One of the men caught on CCTV is wearing a gray long-sleeved shirt, while the other was spotted wearing a white short-sleeved shirt.

The alleged kidnapping attempt comes just days after another man is believed to have tried to encourage the girl to get into his Ford Transit van.

A parent reported that someone tried to abduct their child on Purneys Road in Greenwich, South East London, but the parent was able to intervene in time.

Metohija police confirmed they were called shortly after 9 a.m. on June 15 after a man allegedly spoke to a child while they were walking to school.

A police spokesman said the child was safe and well and investigations were being carried out to establish the circumstances.
