Future Justice League includes Jon Kent’s Superman, Yara Flor’s Wonder Woman, and Tim Fox’s Next Batman. They also join Green Lantern Joe Mullin, a new Aquaman, and a new Flash from another Earth. While this appeared to be an effective team, the new Justice League was quickly defeated by the White Martians known as the “Superclan”. Also, the reason for their smaller team is the Justice League Statute, a set of rules from the original Confederacy meant to protect future iterations. Some of its rules include limiting it to just six members and forbidding team heroes from knowing the personal details of their teammates’ lives, emphasizing that there is little brotherhood outside of missions.
However, the New Alliance soon learns that in order to save the world and defeat the Superclan, they must trust each other on a deeper level in order to return to their territories after being exiled by the White Martians. Likewise, once they’ve turned the tide, they’ll come to the conclusion that they need to make their own rules, choosing to learn from the league’s old mistakes rather than being held back by them. This also included dining together after battles and ordering takeout a few months after they decided to team up and recruit more heroes for the tournament.
It’s a really fun and upbeat way to end Future State: Justice League The plot by writer Joshua Williamson and artist Robson Rocha is also reminiscent of the setting of Marvel Studios The Avengers, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes enjoyed some Middle Eastern food here after first saving the world as a team. While this is a payback for Iron Man’s joke earlier in the movie about wanting to try shawarma, the fact that they went for some shawarma shows that they somewhat understand DC Comics’ future development of Justice League: a team that eats together is more powerful in many ways than a team.
Whether it’s the Avengers or the Justice League, it makes sense to grab some food to unite, unite, and build a team. While the original league was betrayed for being too big and personal, the new league can do better and learn from those mistakes. They can recruit more carefully, ensuring that they win the trust of new members. With that said, what better way to get to know each other and build trust than to eat together?
