The Boys: The 8 Tallest (& 7 Shortest) Actors In The Cast

The world of The Boys is a fascinating one, where superheroes walk among us and actors don capes and hoods that are often larger than life. Although some of these characters may be taller than the average person, much of their stature comes from the confidence and personality they exude rather than their height alone.

As Amazon’s hit series continues to captivate audiences with its behind-the-scenes look at the lives of superheroes, it will be interesting to see how much influence an actor’s height can have on their success in this world of marketing and publicity.

Will shorter actors face greater challenges when it comes to PR? Or will they find ways to cheat the system and rise to the top? With season three finally here, fans can expect explosive new developments as characters come and go, including new cast members taking up the mantle of Seven’s super seats. It’s sure to be a wild ride as Hughie, Butcher and The Boys take on Vought International and all who stand in their way!

the tallest actor among the boys

Karl Urban (Billy Butcher) 6′.5″

Karl Urban as Billy Butcher in The Boys Butcher Baker Candlestickmaker

Not only was Billy Butcher notoriously rude and unfriendly, but he also had grounds to support his rough manners. Standing tall at 6 feet-5, he towers over even a French Bulldog or Mother’s Milk, earning him the respect of the group. Additionally, Billy is a few inches taller than Homelander, which may provide some small comfort as Homelander tries to take everything else from him: his wife, son, and reputation. While there may be debate about whether Billy is as bad as his nemesis, he certainly beats him in terms of height (and potentially superpowers now).

Jesse Arthur (A-Train) 6′.5″

A. Practice crossing your arms

Although Jessie T Usher’s A-Train is capable of sprinting in a time frame the average person cannot imagine, he is not a small superhero. Standing at 6 feet 5 inches, he is actually the second tallest member of the Seven after Black Noir.

One wonders if this is one of many reasons why Homelander doubts that A-Train will rejoin the team. Although A-Train’s superhuman speed does not depend on his height, research shows that taller people are more susceptible to heart disease. Unfortunately for A-Train, his heart attack was caused by taking too much Compound V to boost his abilities and remain relevant.

Nathan Mitchell (Black) 6’2″

black boy

Tall, dark, and quiet, Black Black is the most mysterious of the Seven Gods. Only fans of the comics know a few things about him (like his tree nut allergy), while everything else is shrouded in darkness – just like the aura he likes to show off.

Although he excels in stealth, being able to infiltrate anywhere without leaving a trace, he’s an easy target once he’s inside due to his height. He stands at 6-foot-2, which makes him technically taller than Homelander and the tallest member of the Seven.

Jack Quaid (Hughie) 6’1″

Boys season 1 is the best Hughie has more action

Although Hughie’s lack of hard skills may suggest a mid-skill, his character has developed significantly over two seasons and he has become a valuable member of the team. Standing at 6 foot-1, he towers over the rest of the boys – even Butcher who often asserts his authority over him. Interestingly, when standing alongside his girlfriend Annie (aka Starlight), their contrasting heights create an intriguing silhouette.

Despite his stature, Hughie isn’t known for any particular athletic prowess and often struggles with self-doubt. Nonetheless, he has proven himself to be an asset to the team through his personal growth and dedication.

Miles Gaston Villanueva (Sonics) 6’1″

Miles Gaston Villanueva as Sonic in The Boys

Sonic, portrayed by Miles Gaston Villanueva, is Starlight’s ex-boyfriend and a candidate for The Seven. Vought’s reality TV series managed to climb the charts, but Supersonic stood out despite DHS’s belief (and Huey’s to some extent) that his high ratings were solely due to his past relationship with Interstellar Contact. With an adorable and dedicated personality, Supersonic embodies the essence of a true superhero. Standing at 6’1”, he casts an imposing shadow, but will there be room for him amidst the other egos in The Seven?

Jason Akers (Soldier Boy) 6’0″

soldier boy

One of the best new characters introduced post season 1 is Soldier Boy, played by Jensen Ackles. He portrays a raw version of Marvel’s Captain America, filled with fake patriotism and almost as disgusting bravado as a frustrated Homeland Security agent. Standing at 6 feet-0, Soldier Boy towers over Seven’s vice-captain, which doesn’t make the DHS very happy. Unlike the Homeland Security guy, Soldier Boy doesn’t pretend to be two different sides of himself and instead shows the most authentic (and abrasive) version of himself to everyone.

Anthony Starr (Homeland) 5’11”

Aboriginal and his son Lane among the boys

Standing at a towering 5-foot-11, Anthony Starr utilizes his height to Homelander’s advantage. However, his intimidating presence doesn’t solely stem from being an inch or two taller than his partner. Starr instills a subversive threat into the leader of the Seven, portraying him as an evil superhero even when he flashes a smile for promotional photos.

While it is inaccurate to suggest that DHS is the tallest member of the Seven, Homelander’s claim to be the physically strongest makes perfect sense in terms of Vought’s viral marketing material.

Sean Patrick Flanery (Gunpowder) 5’11”

Sean Patrick Flanery as Gunpowder in Boys and Comics

Gunpowder, portrayed by Sean Patrick Flannery, is Soldier Boy’s comrade and fellow member of the Crimson Countess, Payback. He is recognized for his love of guns and his fiery temperament to rival the power of bullets.

At a height of 5 foot-11, he frequently provided Butcher with a formidable partner for gun shows; however, after Butcher acquired some V24s, Superman proved to be too much to handle. While Gunpowder possesses secondary abilities, they are no match for Butcher’s newfound super strength and laser vision.

shortest actor among the boys

Giancarlo Esposito (Stan Edgar) 5’7.5″

Giancarlo Esposito as Stan Edgar in The Boys

At 5 feet and 7.5 inches tall, Giancarlo Esposito, the CEO of Vought International, is rarely the tallest person in the room. However, he never shows any insecurities. Instead, he likes to exude a sense of poise that makes him appear taller than his actual height. Being cornered by Homelander wasn’t enough to upset Stan Edgar who knew his position was as strong as Homelander’s fist. Even with Vought International facing an ongoing scandal surrounding Compound V and Homelander’s increasingly erratic behavior, Stan Edgar continued to forge ahead with finely-honed wingtips. . .

Nick Wexler (Blue Eagle) 5’7″

The Boys season 3 blue eagle costume

The recent negative publicity that Vought received due to Stormfront’s blatant fascism has had a ripple effect throughout the superhero community. One such superhero who has found himself in hot water is Blue Eagle, portrayed by Nick Wechsler. He stands at a modest height of 5 feet-7 inches and possesses an incredible ability to send someone flying through walls with just one punch. Unfortunately, this power led him down a dark path as he recently committed a hate crime by murdering a black man.

As expected, his actions have been met with intense scrutiny and criticism from the public. While other new Supermans set to appear in season three have been more fleshed out, Blue Eagle remains somewhat of an enigma for fans. However, this does not stop him from becoming the perfect target for Butcher and his team of violent superheroes who are on a mission to take down Homeland Security.

Despite his flaws, Blue Eagle still serves as an interesting character study for viewers – one that raises important questions about power dynamics and accountability in the world of superheroes. As the show continues to explore these themes, it remains to be seen how Blue Eagle’s story will unfold and what consequences he will face for his actions.

Erin Moriarty (Starlight) 5’6″

Starlight shows her kinetic abilities in boys

At 5’6”, Erin Moriarty’s character, Starlight, was the shortest member of the Seven before the arrival of Stormfront. However, it can be difficult to distinguish between her platform boots and her thick hair. Despite being a rookie, Vought’s marketing ensured that Starlight stood out among her teammates and she proved to be just as impressive.

Not having exceptional physical strength allows Starlight to blend in with the masses and often support boys without drawing attention to herself. She can even alter her appearance at will, making it harder for Vought to track her every move. Fortunately, her unusual superpowers are not dependent on her height advantage.

Laurie Holden (Countess of Scarlet) 5’5″

Crimson Countess

Laurie Holden, another main cast member of season 3, portrays Countess Crimson, Soldier Boy’s former teammate. She has the ability to create beams of energy when her fingers touch each other. With her well-known superhero partner and membership in one of The Seven’s rival superhero organizations, Butcher’s team sought her out for information that could assist them in taking down Vought.

Despite being 5’5” tall and compact in appearance, she can hold her own against Kimiko, who is considered one of the strongest and most dangerous members of The Boys. Countess Crimson has participated in numerous battles within the superhero community.

Elizabeth Shue (Madeline Stillwell) 5’3″

Madeleine Stilwell Boy Part 1

Madelyn Stillwell is often considered the “face” of Vought. She is responsible for guiding the various personalities in The Seven, placating Homelander (who has a bad habit of thinking she’s the only member of The Seven that matters), and serves as the main antagonist in the first season.

Despite being only 1.5m tall, Madeleine Stillwell knows how to work a room. Whether in the boardroom at Vought Tower or in a room full of congressmen debating the merits of bringing superheroes into the U.S. military, Madelyn doesn’t let her height get in the way of getting what she wants…

Kimiko (Karen Fukuhura) 5’1″

Kimiko is in the shop, the boys are covered in blood

In “The Boys,” Kimiko is to the boys what Black Noir is to Seven – a mysterious young woman with extraordinary powers. Throughout two seasons, the team has unraveled her story and discovered that the Shining Liberation Army in Japan had transformed her into an unstoppable killing machine. Despite being only 5 feet 1 inch tall, she possesses the highest fighting ability among all members of the boys. She vanquished every major assassin of the Seven, including Black Noir, and aided in defeating Stormfront.

Stormfront (Aya Cash) 5’1″

Boys before the storm

Stormfront may be small, but she is big trouble. Despite her height of only 1.5m, actress Aya Cash exudes a dignified presence. Once a fascist American nationalist, she joined Season 2 following Translucent’s untimely demise. Hughie and The Boys are not alone in underestimating Stormfront’s power based on her appearance. With electrical abilities that surpass even Starlight’s, she is one of the Seven’s most formidable members, despite her diminutive stature.
