The month of February was especially mild, with an anomaly of +3.6°C compared to normal.

The first half of 2020 was the hottest on record in France, with a national average temperature of 12.5°C, Weather France announced Tuesday.

In the first half of 2007 (12.4 °C) and the first half of 2014 (12.1 °C growth) it is very slightly ahead. “The average temperature anomaly for the first half of the year is +1.8°C,” compared to the baseline average recorded between 1981 and 2010, the organization said on its website.

The months of January, February and April experienced the largest anomalies in monthly temperatures. February was particularly mild with an anomaly of +3.6 °C.

The anomaly is the largest in Corsica.

In the large central part of the country we can find anomalies, the majority, Weather France said. For example, Orly and Brive recorded average temperatures above normal by 2.4°C in the first six months of the year. Lyon, Chartres and Tours registered an anomaly of + 2.3 °C.

The biggest error, however, was measured at Alistro, Corsica, with an average temperature of 15.9 °C and an anomaly of + 2.9 °C. The month of June that ended was nothing special, with an average temperature close to normal, says Météo France.
