“When the smokescreen around Tyler Vilus clears, all we see are dead bodies. It’s up to you to put an end to this carnage,” he told the court. “All the steps of the defendant’s 30-year path are intertwined with those of the construction of the caliphate,” said the attorney general, describing the “exceptional” profile of the man who put his intelligence at the service of terrorism.
Tyler Vilus is one of the first of his generation to conquer Syria, for the first time since late 2012, and one of the few people still alive to earn an income.
