In Season 20, Germany was represented by Top Chef Germany Season 1 runner-up Tom Goetter.
Tom is on the show to prove himself once again and, of course, for a chance to take home the $250,000 cash prize. And you could do it! Last time we checked, he was already past episode 7 and was one of nine remaining contestants on the show alongside Buddha Lo, Amar Santana, Sara Bradley, and Ali Ghzawi.
In case you’re catching up, Samuel Albert (Top Chef France Season 10), Dawn Burrell (Top Chef Season 18), Dale MacKay (Top Chef Canada Season 1), Luciana Berry (Top Chef Brazil Season 2), Begoña Rodrigo (Top Chef Spain Season 1) and Sylwia Stachyra (Top Chef Poland Season 7) have already left, in the same order.
Season 20 of Top Chef World All-Stars premiered on March 9, 2023. It featured 16 Top Chef Finalists or Winners from a total of 11 countries. And as always, the show was hosted by Padma Lakshmi and the judges were Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons, who were apparently joined by Top Chef International judges and chefs throughout the season.
How much is Tom Goetter’s net worth?
Tom Goetter flaunted a net worth of over $1 million in 2023.
This talented chef began his career working at Hyatt hotels in Maine and later honed his skills at the Steinberger Academy. After earning a master’s degree in food service management in 2006, he then trained with Thomas Keller and his team in Napa Valley.
After that, he traveled the world specializing in international cuisine with experience working in Michelin-starred restaurants, top-class hotels, and ultra-luxury cruise ships. By 2018, she had accumulated enough experience and participated in Chef Germany, where she finished as a finalist.
Following the feat, Tom joined Scenic Eclipse, the world’s first six-star Discovery yacht, as executive chef and has been there ever since (or at least until 2023). There, he served a variety of cuisines, including modern Asian, Asian street food, French, and Italian. He also managed a host of handpicked specialty chefs and a host of top-of-the-line machinery.
“We have a lot of toys in the kitchen that I don’t think other cruise lines are using yet. We have dehydrators to dehydrate your own breakfast foods and make your own spice blends on board. We use kiln circulators for unique smoking methods and have an in-house Urban Cultivator herb garden to ensure constant access to fresh herbs and vegetables,” he boasted.
But though forward-thinking, Tom faced many challenges as the company tried to buy more or less everything locally, building relationships with suppliers to support the local economy and reduce environmental impact. Therefore, the menus were dependent on what was available in the region, which led Tom to change the menu rather than resort to container shipping.
In addition to cooking the best for customers, Tom also focused on creating unusually themed educational sessions using unique ingredients. For example, he used to make chocolate from cocoa beans or find a purpose for food that would otherwise go to waste.

Tom Goetter was 34 years old when he appeared on Top Chef Season 20 in 2023.
He was one of the youngest competitors that season.
Fun fact: It is the most difficult to make smoked barbecue ribs. “They are marinated, smoked, steamed and baked for 24 hours. Although it is a long and complex process, it is totally worth the wait,” he said.
