“I mean, this is my sanctuary, and I don’t have anything to escape from anymore, but I just love it so much,” Harding, 47, said in an interview with ABC News’ Amy Robach for the two-hour series “Truth and Lies: The Tonya Harding Story.”
She practises at an ice rink close to Portland, Oregon, three days a week, according to the former Olympic figure skater. Harding is still coached by Dody Teachman, who was her mentor during the 1991 U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Harding was the first American woman to successfully land a triple axel leap in a competition at the 1991 Nationals. “I want to return to doing the things I loved to do, which were taking care of my triplets. And I’m confident I could,” Harding remarked.
In the film “I, Tonya,” Harding’s life is depicted. Margot Robbie, who also serves as the movie’s producer, plays the role.
The movie tells the story of the now-famous event in which Nancy Kerrigan, a rival of Harding’s, was clubbed on the right knee on January 6, 1994, while practising for the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Detroit. Later it was discovered that Jeff Gillooly and Shawn Eckardt, a friend of Harding’s first ex-husband, hired the assailant.
For their roles in the incident, Gillooly and Eckardt both admitted guilt to racketeering. Eckardt received a sentence of 18 months in prison, while Gillooly received a two-year prison term.
Harding admitted to conspiring to obstruct prosecution despite denying any involvement in the incident. She was given a $160,000 fine, three years of probation, and 500 hours of community service as part of her punishment.
“I observe Tonya in a much softer, more admirable light than I ever have. She is not the same person she was then, Teachman added. She is now happily married. She is devoted to her kid, whom she has.
