Mercy Chinwo’s brand of soul-changing voices and songs have captured the hearts of a generation of young women, and many Christians often cite her as a role model. Born in Port Harcourt, Rivers State in 1990, she began playing music at a very young age, being a member of the children’s choir at her church and transitioning to the adult choir before beginning her musical career. She released her first single “Testimony” in 2015 and “Igwe” a year later. In 2017, she signed a contract with the Gospel Music label EeZee Conceptz.
Despite remaining a gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo has begun exploring other projects, including starring in Yvonne Nelson: House of Gold alongside Yvonne Nelson, Majid Michel, and Omawumi, among others.
Mercy’s career as a gospel artist went from strength to strength. At the 2018 CLIMAX Awards, she was awarded as the best gospel artist. In 2019, at the first edition of the Africa Gospel Awards Festival (AGAFEST 2019), she also won the award in the categories of Africa Gospel New Artist of the Year, Africa Gospel Artist of the Year and Africa Gospel Song of the Year (Excess Amar ).
