Trippy optical illusion appears to be moving but it ISN’T – and it’s blowing people’s minds

Get ready everyone because things are about to get a little confusing around here.

Yes, there’s an awesome new optical illusion making the rounds on social media, and it’s blowing people away.

Made up of countless hexagons, this purple and yellow illusion appears to slowly move back and forth when you look closely.

Furthermore, the caption below the amazing illusion claims that it was created by Japanese neurology professor Yamamoto Hashima as a means of assessing viewers’ stress levels.

While the caption says “if it doesn’t move or only moves a little, you’re healthy and you slept well,” if it “moves all the time,” it could mean “you’re under too much stress.”

Taking to Twitter to express his confusion, one horrified user posted a screenshot of the illusion online along with the caption “this is really driving me crazy.”

A user insists that they see something different every time they look at the image.

Unsurprisingly, the baffling illusion has the internet completely confused.

Much like the Yanny or Laurel debacle earlier this year, one user claimed that the illusion changes every time they revisit it.

She said: “So this morning the photo was still and now it’s moving like anything.”

Another added: “If I look at it nothing moves, if I look down it moves.”

Meanwhile, one confused user added: “Delete, my head hurts.”

Both them and us.

But in an even more surprising development, now the image doesn’t appear to move at all.

After seeing the reconstructed illusion online, royal designer Yurii Perepadia posted his work on Instagram.

The graphic designer explained: “This is a black and white stroke on a colored background, which moves the focus of the vision and makes the person feel that the details of the image are moving.”

In other words, it has nothing to do with your stress levels because the image doesn’t actually move.

Does anyone else need to go to bed after that? Only U.S?

For even more must-have optical illusions, do you see a beach or a gate when you look at this photo?

And is this mug round or square? This optical illusion confused us.

Also, these optical illusions made us look twice, but can YOU figure out what’s going on?
