WatchOS 10: how to add widgets to your Apple Watch

WatchOS 10 is a welcome update for Apple Watch users. Not only does it add new nice-to-have features, but it also adds more functionality to the Apple Watch. One such feature is widgets, which let you see information like the weather, calendar appointments, and more on your Apple Watch at a glance. They are immensely useful when you need to view such information on the go without having to pick up your iPhone.

As mentioned above, Apple Watch widgets are part of Apple’s update to watchOS 10. You can download watchOS 10 now if you want, but the software is currently in developer beta, which means very crazy. You’re probably better off waiting for the public beta later this summer or the full release this fall, but if you download watchOS 10 now and want to use the new widgets, here’s how they work.

How to add watchOS 10 widgets to your Apple Watch

When you install watchOS 10, you get access to the Weather, Compass, Activity, and Workout app widgets by default. But you can add more with just a few taps. This is how you can add widgets to your Apple Watch.

This list will certainly continue to grow as more developers support the feature, but even this early, it’s a pretty good start.

Your Apple Watch is now more powerful with watchOS 10. But Apple Watch Series 3 won’t get the next watchOS update, and the first-generation Apple Watch Series 4, Series 5, and SE won’t be able to use Daylight Time to help parents to monitor how their children spend time in the sun.

Also, most new features will appear on Apple Watch Series 4 and later, including new widgets.
