On Saturday, July 22, 21-year-old pregnant Autumn Vallian was fatally shot during a shooting at a birthday party in Houston. According to the New York Post, more than 35 shots were fired after an argument broke out at the party. Five other people were injured in the incident, two of whom are suspected shooters.

Autumn Vallian’s mother, Ebony Vallian, said the deceased victim was not directly involved in the altercation. Her mother, who was also at the party, was one of the key witnesses to her daughter’s death.

Houston authorities have not publicly identified the names of the shooters involved in Autumn Vallian’s death.

Of the five people who were not fatally shot, three were transported to the hospital for treatment. The second victim reportedly sustained a cut and did not require hospitalization.

Autumn Vallian wanted to be a teacher

According to Fox News, the shooting began at 1 a.m. Saturday during a party at Margaret Jenkins Park. Autumn Vallian’s mother said that at the time of the incident, the victim was among the people she considered her close friends.

During the party, an argument started between several people. Ebony Vallian said that she tried to run off with her daughter.

Ebony Vallian said:

“One (man) pulled out a gun. When he pulled out his gun, the other guy’s girlfriend got out of her truck and came over with a gun. They were talking about who was going to do what and how, and they started shooting at each other.”

The mother added that a burst of bullets sounded that hit several people, including a young pregnant woman. She said that when she turned around and saw her dead daughter, she couldn’t identify the shooter.

“I looked back and my baby was on the floor. She was gone,” her mother said. “I just lost a child. (She was) in school, trying to find a job. She’s trying to make herself into something, and now she’s gone.”

According to ABC News, the Houston Police Department received reports of multiple shots from its ShotSpotter technology. When they arrived at the scene, they found five victims.

At a news conference, Houston Deputy Police Chief E. Garcia described how authorities rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the shooting.

Garcia said:

– A total of 36 shots were fired with this technology.

According to Ebony Vallian, at the time of her death, Autumn Vallian hoped to become a mother. Family members described the 21-year-old as a kind young woman who wanted to be a teacher.
