Meet Claudia Drury, the victim of Larry Ray
Claudia Drury claimed that Larry retaliated against her in a room at the Gregory Hotel in Midtown East on October 16, 2018 after she alerted her client Stuart that his name was on the website. Around 8 am, she claimed she, Larry Ray and Isabella Pollok, her only alleged accomplice and a former student of Sarah Lawrence, entered the room as she was preparing to see a client.
“He started by saying, ‘Are you trying to hurt my family? Are you trying to hurt me? Are you trying to hurt my family?” And he was angry that I told Stuart about the website,” Claudia testified. “He told me to get naked. I did.” Days before, Claudia testified about introducing him to the world of BDSM, which stands for Bondage, Domination, Sadism and Masochism. She said that she brought some of her tools from that world of hers to practice her trade and that Ray used those items to hold her down and hurt her.
“For seven or eight hours he tied me up, he tied me to a chair, a chair in the room, and he suffocated me with a plastic bag several times. He’s suffocating me with a pillow. She suffocated me to the point that I passed out. with the leash and collar he was wearing,” she testified.
“While you were tied to the chair, were you still naked?” asked Assistant US Attorney Danielle Sassoon. “Yes,” Drury replied. The restriction of breathing was just one of the features of the night that Drury recalled. “She threatened to give me water,” she told the jury.
Claudia tried to get away from Larry. He threatened to kill her after putting a bag over her head. “What if the defendant told you something before he left?” Sassoon asked the witness. “He told me to behave myself,” Drury replied. “He used the word ‘behave’, and do.”
Claudia said she lost 40 pounds in three weeks during the ordeal.
She continued to work because she was afraid that he “would think it was the only way I would feel safe the next day that I had money in my hands.”
Claudia claimed that she only found out later that Isabella had recorded the conversation. An audio recording of the meeting was played in court and you could see the face of Claudio Drury suffering. She alternately tilted her head back and looked towards the witness box. The prosecutor asked Drury to describe the sounds after hearing them in the courtroom.
