With the Minecraft Nether update, players are introduced to Netherite, a material that is elusive and stronger than diamond. Netherite is ideal if you want to go on dangerous adventures. With Netherite, you’ll be able to craft some cool weapons that can protect you.
Unlike other materials, finding neterite is not as simple as mining or finding ore. It’s a somewhat complicated process that may seem wrong, but it’s actually correct. If you’re looking for Netherite, you’ve come to the right place!

In order to start mining Netherite, you will need to follow a few steps that may seem out of place when mining the material. This involves mining something completely different from the Nether, putting it in a furnace, combining it with another completely different item, and then, from there, turning it into armor and tools. Before hunting the Netherite, you will need to mine 12 obsidian, create a nether portal and acquire a diamond axe. Also note the location of your Nether portal; this way you can return home after completing the mission!
Once you have all of these things in place, you will need to locate the ancient remains. Ancient Relics is an extremely rare ore that can only be found in the Nether. It is a high-explosion-resistant material, which makes it resistant to normal explosions. Ancient Remnants also happen to be the only material you can get Netherite Scrap from.
The only place you can find ancient remains is the Nether. Once you go through the portal, you’ll have to dig down to find it. Ancient remains are found deeper below the surface than other materials. Your chances of finding more ancient remains will increase depending on the number of blocks from the bottom of the world you are on. The only real downside is that since the Nether Portal is generated at random levels in the Nether, it’s not always clear how far down you’ll have to dig.
You will have to narrow down where in the world you are and how far you will have to dig. To find your starting position, press F3. This will give you debugging information, but more importantly, there will be three coordinates on the left side of the screen: X, Y, and Z. This is important because you can increase your chances of finding ancient remains as you increase the Y -axis. The coordinates will help you determine where you are and how far you have to go to find the ancient remains. We also suggest that you write down the coordinates of your Nether portal. This way, when you’re ready to leave, you won’t accidentally lose your Nether Portal.
The Y-axis will tell you how deep you dug. This will give you a clear idea of how many blocks above the bottom layer of the world you are. You will be able to find ancient remains in the veins of 1-3 blocks on Y-axis 8-22. Can spawn in veins from 1-2 blocks on Y-axis 8-199. On average, Y-level 15 seems to contain the most ancient remains. This is why the maximum number of ancient remains blocks you will be able to find in a single 64 by 64 block world area is five. However, it is possible to get 11. Adjacent pieces can generate veins on a border with up to two blocks appearing in an adjacent piece.
At this point you can consider starting a Nether mine. Ancient remains can only appear when they are completely covered by other blocks or lava. Running a mining shaft will help you farm this material better, and really, you won’t find any of this material just traveling across the surface of the Nether.
After collecting the ancient remains, you can start melting them in the furnace. You can choose any fuel source that suits you. One Ancient Shard will produce one Neterite Waste. To create a netherite ingot, you will need to collect and combine four netherite scraps with four gold ingots. You can then place scraps and levers anywhere in the crafting grid since it’s a shapeless recipe. Once you’ve collected Neterite ingots, you’re ready to craft powerful tools and armor!
