The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening there’s more to find for the Nintendo Switch than the original Game Boy and Game Boy Color versions. The number of Heart Pieces has increased from 12 to 32, while the number of Secret Seashells has increased from 26 to 50. If you complete all the dungeons, collect all 32 Heart Pieces, and complete the Chamber Dungeons challenges, you can end up with a whopping 20 Heart Containers. All Heart Pie Locations
As you can see on the map above, link wakes upThe Heart Pieces are scattered throughout the island of Koholint.
However, they are never found in dungeons. Well, the piece of heart in the upper left corner of the map is on top of Turtle Rock, the eighth dungeon, which can only be accessed through the dungeon exit.
You will usually find Heart Pieces in caves and out in the open. Usually you will need a specific item like Hook Shot, Bombs, Roc’s Feather or Power Bracelet to grab Heart Pieces in the caves.
The locations shown above are exactly where they are on the map. If you go to those locations, you should see a suspicious looking heart piece or wall, a moving block, or some bushes that can be cut down.
Since heart pieces aren’t in chests, they really stick out when you come across one.
a mini-game
On the map you will notice three sets of two hearts next to each other. For example, the Trendy Game in Mabe Village has two Heart Pies up for grabs in the crane game. The former is there from the start, while the latter appears after you empty your supply of key items (Secret Seashells, Chamber Stone).
You can also earn some Heart Pieces from the Fisherman in Mabe Village. You get the first one by catching your first fish. You get the second heart piece when you catch a “big” fish.
Dampé will also give you two Heart Pieces upon completing the first two sets of Chamber Dungeons challenges. Complete the third set of challenges and it will give you a full heart.
You can also earn a Heart Piece by completing the Rapids Race at the Raft Shop east of Tal Tal Heights. Another part of the heart can be found during the journey itself.
It’s best to go for this while doing the Rapids Raid variant, so you don’t have to worry about timing. Use the Hook Shot to hook yourself to the platform with the piece of heart.
Although they aren’t technically minigames, you don’t need to find another two pieces of heart. One can be purchased at the Mabe Village shop. The second one is awarded in the Seashell Mansion when you turn in 30 Secret Seashells.
All Secret Seashells locations
Secret Seashells are a bit harder to find than Heart Pieces. For starters, there are more of them. But a large number of them are under the grass and soil.
Unearthing secret shells often means digging with a fancy shovel. You can buy the deluxe shovel at the shop in Mabe Village for 200 rupees. It is a must buy.
Secret Shells can also be found in treasure chests, under rocks and bushes, in trees, in mini-games, and in dungeons. Certain characters will give you secret seashells after completing their task in a series of trades.
a mini-game
As Heart Pieces, you can grab Secret Seashells in mini-games all over Koholint Island. Two can be freed in the crane game from Trendy Game.
Two can be found on the platforms in the Rapids Raid/Race minigame, and another can be earned by completing a race in under 35 seconds.
A couple of Secret Seashells earned in the fishing minigame is the most challenging. You have to wait for Blooper and Cheep Cheep to appear. Both come from Super Mario and are rare finds, so make every sighting count.
Dampé will also give you a shell after completing his Fill Up Your Hearts Chamber dungeon.
business sequence
We have a guide that outlines all the steps of the trading sequence, which at the end gives you a magnifying glass and gives you a chance to get a boomerang. But you can also get Secret Seashells by working on the sequence.
After delivering Christine’s letter to Mr. Write, she returns home to the Animal Village. She will give you a secret shell.
When you get the magnifying glass, go to the house right next to Christina. You will be able to see Zora in the pool. Confused upon seeing it, Zora will give you a secret shell.
Prison
Several dungeons have secret seashells. They are all found in chests, so make sure you clear all the chests in each dungeon.
Sometimes, as in the case of Tail Cave, your map can be misleading. Search the crumbling wall on the left side of the largest room in Tail Cave to find a secret shell.

After collecting 15 secret shells, head straight to the Shell Fairy in Ukuku Prairie, south of Kanalet Castle. Step on the scale to receive the ultimate gift for finding secret clams: the Shell Sensor.
This handy sensor works like a metal detector, alerting you when a secret shell is approaching. This makes the process much easier. Even with the locations marked on the map above, the sensor makes things much better.
When the sensor goes off, the Secret Seashell is very, very close. If there are no bushes or rocks nearby to scoop up, you’ll probably have to dig with a shovel. A handful of secret shells are still on the trees. So if the excavation fails, jump into the trees with the Pegasus boots.
There are even two secret projectiles that require you to drop bombs into a hole, which then spits out your reward. One of them is in Tal Tal Heights, near the key angler’s tunnel opening, while the other is to the left of the roost in Tal Tal Range.
The most demanding Secret Shell
In the middle of the game you will have to make Marino start singing the ballad of the wind fish to wake up the walrus on the outskirts of the Yarna desert. You will also be able to find a secret shell in that destination.
This is the only game that makes you want to play Ocarina. Perform the ballad of the wind fish where the walrus once slept and you will see it jump out of the ocean to listen to it. It will also drop a secret shell before emerging and plunging back into the water.

As we mentioned before, you can get the shell sensor after collecting 15 secret shells. But you might be wondering about all the rewards. We have compiled a list of all the rewards you can get in exchange for your secret shells:
