Brandon Fugal’s father is Daniel Fugal. He was born on May 30, 1948 to Boyd LeRoy Fugal and Venice Jacob Fugal in their hometown of Pleasant Grove, the eldest of 9 children.
As an Eagle Scout at the age of 14, Dan was active in sports, church activities, took piano, accordion, and trombone lessons, played in the high school band, and was an avid soccer and basketball player. He was happiest spending time with his family and being loved unconditionally. A graduate of Pleasant Grove High School, he attended the University of Utah and graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in business.
Dan joined the Air Force Reserve and served an LDS mission in the eastern states, serving primarily in the New York area. Dan spent his entire life serving and leading in the religious and business fields. He was the youngest member ever elected (28) to the Alpine School District Board of Education, where he served for nearly a decade, and was president and member of the Pleasant Grove City Council.
As CEO of Niels Fugal Sons Companies, he was a business leader, partnering with his brother Guy to build one of the largest construction companies in the Intermountain West, and was named EY Entrepreneur of the Year in 2001. He was also a stock broker . and insurance licenses.
Daniel passed away on September 8, 2021 at his home in Pleasant Grove, Utah, surrounded by his loving wife, 4 children, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren. He was 73 years old. He fought carcinoid cancer and other types of cancer for 17 years.
