Who are Mike Butler’s HGTV parents?
Mike grew up in the construction industry and was born into a family of builders and artists. Mike was born in 1984. He then celebrated his 38th birthday in 2022.
The Perfect Vignette is an architecture, engineering, and design firm that the New York Institute of Technology alumnus works for and may even have co-founded with his wife. At that time, the company had 12 employees. Here Mike’s role is that of mastermind. He often has to completely redo floor plans to accommodate what the client wants while maintaining curb appeal.

To be closer to their families, Mike and Denese moved from Jersey City, NJ, to Boston in 2019 with their three children, Ellis, 6, Felix, and Luca, 18 months. To make each project truly unique, Mike and Denese now collaborate with their parents, who are carpenters and GCs.
Denese and Mike Butler have been husband and wife since April 21, 2012.

HGTV Mike Butler’s father, John Butler, came from Massachusetts. Supposedly born in 1956, 2023 John is 67 years old.
According to John’s Facebook, he attended Lexington High School, Lexington, MA, graduating in 1974. He later attended Lowell Institute of Technology.
Also, in his career, John owned Newfield Millwork where he worked as a carpenter. Since 2019, he has been working at Consigli Construction Co., Inc. as a Field Operations Supervisor.
Mike’s father used to take him to construction sites during his childhood. But after college, Mike began to specialize in design/build projects instead of following the traditional GC path. These projects ranged from minor jobs to building foundations in Manhattan and completing an expansion to Gillette Stadium.
Meet Irene Butler, the mother of HGTV’s Mike Butler
Irene Butler is the matriarch of the Butler family. She is the daughter of Lowell Wayne Sheppard, who was born on August 31, 1938. Sadly, her father passed away on March 22, 2017. Her mother’s name is Carole Butler.
Irene has at least one sister, Margo Hebert. Margo studied for a BA (Honours) in Ottawa. She was the director of marketing and development at Arts Network Ottawa / Réseau des arts d’Ottawa. She was a Marketing Officer / Marketing Agent at Hydro Ottawa.
After the show premiered, Margo posted on her FB: “So when I figured out how to pick up my little nephew and take him home because he was distracting me and my nieces from playing craps, I never thought I would start a show on HGTV! some day! Congratulations to Michael Butler, his lovely wife Denese Butler and my brother in law John M Butler. We wish them the best of luck on this adventure! Aunt Bug is very proud.”
Other members of the Irene family include Dan Moylan, Shelly Grenier, Tania Menice, and Sarah Butler Moylan. Irene is originally from Ottawa, Ontario, where part of her family also currently resides.
