Who is Sidney Moorer?

Sidney Moorer is a United States citizen who was a repairman or welding contractor by trade. His full name is Sidney St. Clair Moorer.

He came into the limelight after he was arrested on December 18, 2013 for the disappearance and alleged murder of a woman named Heather Elvis, with whom he was having an affair.

This entire incident was recounted in an episode of ABC 20/20 entitled “Devil’s Triangle”. The episode first aired in May 2021, but was available for viewing again on 19 August 2022.

Sidney and Tammy Caison first met in 1997 and started dating shortly after, even though she was four years older than him. The couple married in March 1998 and have three children, including two sons and a daughter.

Sidney is currently 46 years old, while his wife Tammy is 50 years old.

Sidney cheated on his wife and had affairs with other women, including Heather Elvis, a bar hostess, who was only 20 at the time of their affair, and another unknown woman.

The matter became serious when his wife Tammy found out about her husband’s affair with Heather only after three months of living together, in October 2013.

Tammy took some extreme steps to prevent Sidney from meeting Heather, taking away his cell phone, handcuffing him to his bed at night and physically abusing him.

She even threatened Heather and tried in every possible way to bring her into disrepute by calling her a stalker. Sources also claim that the 20-year-old was pregnant with Sidney’s child at the time.

Their illicit affair and Heather’s pregnancy lead Tammy to take the extreme step of getting Heather out of the way by possibly kidnapping her with the help of her husband Sidney. Heather was last seen on December 13, 2013.

A police investigation revealed that Sidney and Heather had exchanged several phone calls on the night of her abduction.

Also, his truck was found near where Heather was last seen, suggesting his involvement in her disappearance. She is believed to have been killed by the couple, although her body has never been found.

About four months after Heather’s disappearance in February 2014, Sidney and his wife Tammy were arrested by local police. They are accused of murdering and kidnapping Heather.

They were also found to have obstructed justice and were charged with two counts of indecent exposure. However, prosecutors dropped charges of murder and indecent exposure. Later in April 2018, an additional count of conspiracy to commit kidnapping was indicted against them by a grand jury.

Finally, in 2018, Tammy was found guilty of kidnapping and conspiracy to commit kidnapping and was sentenced to 30 years in prison for each.

Sidney, on the other hand, was charged with obstruction of justice in 2017, and found guilty of kidnapping in 2019. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison for each sentence, plus ten years for obstruction of justice.

Where are Sidney Moorer and wife Tammy Moorer now?

Today, Sidney is serving time at Lee Correctional Institution in Bishopville, South Carolina, while his wife, Tammy, is serving time at Leath Correctional Institution in Greenwood. Both are still trying to prove their innocence.
