Let’s start with the basics. Morality is a new system in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty which functions a bit like a tug-of-war. By reaching a higher morale rank, your character will deal more and more damage to enemies, as well as take less incoming damage. Your morale rating can reach a maximum of 25 and is exclusive to your current mission. This means that after you leave a mission and start a new one, it will go back to 1.

Just like stamina or posture in other soul-like games, enemies Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty they also have their morale ranks, which you can see above their health bars. If the enemy’s morale rank is above yours, they will take less damage and deal more, while the opposite will be true if your rank is above theirs. You can tell how much difference there will be at a glance based on the color of their moral rank. If it’s red, the enemy will deal much more damage and be the most dangerous, purple is slightly above, yellow is comparable, and green is the easiest.

The tug-of-war element comes in how you can gain and lose morale during each mission. As said, your morale can go all the way up to 25 in several ways. Defeating enemies will give you a small number of morale points, but you can get more if you can perform spirit attacks, martial arts, and death blows.

Morale will be depleted if you get hit by critical hits, but mostly when you die in combat. Death will lower your morale significantly.

What is Fortitude?

Fortitude can be considered your base level of morale. If you have no strength and die a few times, your morale will go back to 1. However, if you have a strength rank of, say, 15, then your morale will only drop to 15, even if you keep dying.

Toughness will also depend on the rank and start at 0 for each mission. You gain power points by placing battle flags and marker flags located within each stage.
