What happened that she was thrown from the plane?

The woman, identified as 56-year-old Helen Taylor, has type 2 diabetes and said she was fine when she boarded the flight, Chronicle Live reported. She started to feel dizzy and began to sweat when she went to the bathroom, but felt better moments later.

“I was desperate for a toilet so I asked a cabin crew member while people were still boarding if I could go to the toilet,” Helen told Chronicle Live. “She (the flight attendant) said, ‘Yes, no problem.’ But when I got out, I started sweating and felt a little dizzy. The flight attendant saw it and asked, ‘Are you okay?’ and I said, ‘I’m perfectly fine, I just ate after not eating all day and I have type 2 diabetes, so my blood sugar is just coming back up. All I have to do is sit down and drink water and I’ll be fine,” Taylor added. She further explained that she is also going through menopause.

How did the cabin crew react?

After noticing her sweating, the cabin crew decided to “do a medical” and also ask her about her condition. They later informed her: “We have made the decision that you must leave the aircraft, we think you are a flight risk.”

What did the airline say?

Taylor later contacted the airline to inform them of the incident. The airline, after investigating the case, released a statement addressing the incident.

“After discussions with independent aviation medical experts, our crew made this decision as the health, well-being and safety of our customers is always our first priority. However, following further investigation as an absolute priority, we have made contact with Ms Taylor to apologize and refund her holiday as a goodwill gesture,” a Jet2 spokesperson told the publication.
