Tammy Louise, a chef who goes by the name “Tammylouiseee” on TikTok, recently shared a unique recipe for crispy chicken in a 5-minute video on the platform. The video, titled “This is genius”, opens with Louise opening two packets of Lays crisps in flavors – BBQ and Sour Cream & Onion. Then he adds some barbecue sauce to the first packet and sour cream sauce to the second. Louise continued by adding eggs to each package. After putting the chicken drumsticks in both, she mixed everything together by squeezing the packets with her hands.

After all the ingredients are mixed, the TikTok chef takes out the drumsticks and carefully places them on a baking sheet. After that, Louise says, “Ok, this is my secret to delicious crusty chicken. Say goodbye to breadcrumbs and say hello to barbecue chips as your crust.” She further explained: “I only use two eggs per chicken. Then I used barbecue chips and sour cream and onion chips, but you can really use any flavor you want.”

After the chicken is cooked, she exclaims, “Oh my God! Look at that delicious piece of crust. Are you telling me that if you ordered this at a restaurant, you wouldn’t say ‘wow, that’s amazing, I’m so happy!’” In the same video, she also advises her audience to refrain from using frozen chicken. Lousie also noted that she kept the oven temperature at 168 degrees.
Mixed reactions from TikTok viewers
Despite Louise’s creativity, her audience seemed to have mixed reactions to the recipe. One user commented, “After the chicken is bagged without washing, I’m done.” Another wrote: “Why don’t you crush the crisps before opening the packet?”
However, many praised Louise’s cooking trick as one said: “Lays is expensive.. But I love your delicious chicken”, while another commented: “This actually looks good. I won’t lie.”
