Lauretta Onochie, social media assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari, described pop singer Wizkid’s outburst about the president on Sunday as “utter ignorance, insensitivity and childishness.”
Wizkid, in a Twitter tirade against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), told Buhari to focus on ending indiscriminate killings by SARS.
“Donald Trump is none of your business! Old man! Police/Sarz continue to kill young Nigerians on a daily basis! Do something! Nothing worries you about America! Take on your country!!” he wrote.
Responding Tuesday, Ms Onochie said the 30-year-old will learn manners when he grows up.
“It is not an insult to call someone old. The manner and manner in which Ayo Balogun addressed the president leaves a bitter taste in the mouth,” he said.
“He displayed extreme ignorance, insensitivity, and childishness. But hey, he’s a #DumbkidNotWhizKid. When they grow up, maybe they’ll learn respect.”
Wizkid’s statement did not sit well with musician Blackface, a member of the now-defunct musical group Plantashun Boiz.
“Why don’t you face your music, little man? I understand why it’s hard because there’s no #ChildrenOfNowAdays content,” Blackface tweeted.
“Not all verified accounts need to have a person’s name at the top. So it’s possible that @wizkidayo account is run by an agent because I don’t think Wizkid is stupid enough to insult his father or the his father’s partner.”
